Corpus: A Boring And Sterile Faction Lacking In Unit Variety

Out of all the factions i think Corpus is the most boring faction to look at in unit variation. They can be fun to fight and have some interesting units like the Grineer but they are sorely lacking in unit variation. Every crewman is basicly a recoloured version compared to the basic ones and the moas and drones arent much better. Its such a shame because the Corpus crewman voices and the new Corpus soundtrack is really awesome. Compared to the Grineer who has different units for other tilesets or atleast just another helmet on different kinds of soldiers to add some kind of uniqueness the Corpus is extremely lacking.

The Infested was also pretty boring visually before but they were given the infested osprey and still have more to come in the form of the infested moa and two more ancients. When the Infested units are done i really do hope the Corpus is getting some restyling to make them on par with the other factions artwise.

The Corpus do need better unit variety. They could also use some updates to their old tilesets.

However, I think "boring and sterile" is part of their aesthetic, so that should be taken into consideration.

I did mean unit variety only. I have edited my post for clarity.

Thanks.

I've been asking for the Corpus to get their own unique camo ever since the Grineer got theirs on Phobos and Earth.

Give me a good reason why the Corpus don't get any snow camouflage for their ice planets.

"Do you have any idea how many credits that would cost?"

I think we need to add variation by making them more uniform. It's weird to call them a militant space corp, then see everyone wearing a different color uniform and behaving differently. I'd like to see spawns that all have the same color uniform, and this color indicates squad type. Like a whole bunch of dark blue enemies, seven with dera, one tech and two glaxion. A whole squad of yellow-orange show up and they're all using prods and running with shockwave moa.

Variety throughout a mission, rather than just a giant kerfuffle of 50 enemy types.

We do have plans for more Corpus enemies in the future, including a modular one who'll be able to be assembled from various pieces to create variation, like the female Grineer enemy. We don't have an ETA for when these will appear in the game though.

omigod YES! That will be amazing! :D

Will there possibly be any Corpus units that are "outpost" specific, or go with the new ice tileset that you guys made?

Also, please take a look at snipers. There are so many spots on your maps where snipers could be, but they're not.

Let them shine a laser in our face when taking aim, alerting us of their precense. Or have our warframes detect some kind of "lock on" and warn us.

Let snipers be dangerous, not just units that should really be somewhere else.

Agreed on all count.  Most enemies are just a gun and a different colored shirt.  I think even before we get new Corpus enemies, the old ones need to be touched up.  Elite Crewmen don't seem elite at all; they're just blue.  Elites need to be beefier in a manner similar to Elite Lancers.  Prod Crewmen need some way to close the distance with players like Scorpions and Flameblades, either a special ability or just some riot gear/hardlight riot shield that lets them survive charging a Tenno.  And maybe find some way to introduce the Tetra (maybe another regional enemy like the Detron Crewman) and the Penta (a new type of heavy to support the Techs?).

I also remember some people after the first Tactical Alert saying that toned-down/low-power Hyenas were actually some of the most fun they've ever gotten out of a relatively normal enemy.  Hyenas bring a three-dimensional element to battles that you can't get out of other enemies whose only vertical movement is floating in the air (looking at you, Hellions) and are overall just an interesting enemy to see and fight.  Why limit Corpus quadrupeds to bosses and assassins?  Get some mass-produced warhounds in there!

Since we're on the topic of Corpus unit variety, can we also talk about their aesthetics?

I've heard a lot of people criticize techs for just being big red crewmen in the past.  I've also seen a lot of people talk about giving techs some kind of exo-suit/power loader rig.  Not too long ago I saw this idea pop up on the forums:

I still an idea like this would be fantastic and make the Corpus something worth looking at.

I think they could use more "miniboss" units.

I thoroughly enjoyed having hyenas mixed in with the standard troops during the tactical alert, and I can't wait for the riot moa. I think having larger, more threatening enemies mixed in with the fodder would help provide needed variety, both visually and in terms of gameplay.

Wait. Can you elaborate why you bring up the female Grineer as being modular instead of the male Grineer who are more numerous in variation? Does that mean the male Grineer are not modular?

Okay, let me take a step back first. With modular you mean that you can freely replace the arms, legs and heads (or place extra items like backpacks) of the a certain enemies, instead of just the head like with Warframes. Which allows you to create more variations of enemies quicker. Right?

So since you bring up the female Grineer instead of the male Grineer it sounds like the regular male Grineer are not modular (yet). Which makes me wonder why we only got 2 destinct female Grineer units (Balista and Heavy Gunner have the same model) while we have 4 destinct male Grineer models (5 if you count the capture target)?

Is this also the reason you guys removed the original Sawman? Because the saw weapon was fixed to the arm instead of being reusable on other units?

Anyway, hope you don't throw in more moa variants for Corpus. It's the human enemies who are in dire need of variations first.

Enemies of the tenno submissions are like a gold mine for this.

Corpus auxiliatrix, the silverbones miniboss... Lots of concepts to make them less look like simple colorswaps.

Moreover, if D.E. manages to bring more elite/corrupted/infested/tilesets versions of enemies, the problem is solved.

"Ah yeah? And what will their equipment be?"

Just look at the market man. There's a lot of weapons without owners there...
