Hueminator
Remember why we got damage fall off in the first place? You can "Snipe" with Hek. However, I don't think this is the case anymore because of: 1) Vicious Spread Mod: Pretty much to maximize your dps you get a 60% more spread. Even without damage fall off, fewer pellets hit. 2) Phage: A tentacle gun using Shotgun Mod but doesn't really have damage fall off and you can concentrate the beam. I also think that Shotgun are underpowered atm, I think a good start is this. Feedback welcome! Edited September 14, 2014 by Hueminator
Halser
I think shotguns should keep the damage falloff, but also get a damage ramp up as you get close to an enemy. Like, 125% of the original damage when really close or something.
NovusNova
On the recent Dev Stream they said Shotguns are next for a rework, so hopefully that will make them more usable.
Shion963
The way it is currently is that shotguns suffer higher reductions in falloff than shotpistols. A Pyrana deals a lot more at a distance that would only give 7s on a Boar.
LukeAura
I think what happened is that we were given falloff in a time when most maps were small, tight, or had more than enough pieces of cover and LoS blockers to approach enemies. We've since received bigger and more open maps that appear more often than when fall off was created. It was not balanced for the average range of combat we currently see. It is outdated, and is definitely in need of review at least. Edited September 14, 2014 by LukeAura
SergeiTheBeast
Fall off is fine, but IMO Shotguns need a mechanic where they get a damage buff for being in close range to the target
AlienOvermind
Remember why we got damage fall off in the first place? You can "Snipe" with Hek. By the way, I fail to understand why sniping with Hek is SO wrong, that the whole weapon class had to be murdered.

NOTE-This is what I heard. I joined about U7, and started paying attention to updates U8, so I wasn't there. Because, at the point, hek was unbeatable. It was a shotgun that beat snipers at sniping. Well, we had pretty small number of weapons back then. Now we have Latron Prime/Wraith, Sibarys, Dread, Paris Prime — and now Hek wont ever beat those guns at sniping even if damage falloff is canceled. Voidcrash
By the way, I fail to understand why sniping with Hek is SO wrong, that the whole weapon class had to be murdered. Probably the same reason warframe abilities and stuff like "slide down the wall for 15 minutes with Heavy Impact so that you can clear a room" were, are, and will be nerfed: It felt cheesy at the time. What we experience now is the same but in a grander scale, due to power creep.

I'll need to look closer the next time I carry my Pyrana/AkBronco. Can't really pay attention to numbers while stuff are mauling my face. Filas312
Bronco/AkBronco Prime or not don't have a falloff. Pyrana does neither.
