Why Do People Like Prime Warframes And Weapons ?

Prime warframes can have passive buffs that make them superior to their common variants. For example, rhino prime is noticably faster. All prime warframes can also receive 250 energy upon touching the golden trap orbs in the Void. Additionally, all prime weapons are noticably stronger than their normal counterpart with signficant advantages in multiple areas.

In the past they used to be nice-looking weapons that had usually small differences between the original version. They were basically cool cosmetics  or a status symbol that may have had a slight edge over the regular counterpart. If I remember correctly, Latron Prime had a slower fire rate but slightly higher damage and it had another polarity, but was otherwise similar to the regular Latron.

Now, Prime weapons are almost unequivocally better than the standard versions. There's little reason to use the original version unless you prefer it on principle or aesthetic reasons.

Also, considering the game doesn't really have an overarching goal, most people spend their time by collecting weapons/mods. As well, the new Prime weapons provide a sense of progression for most people, so that the game feels less stagnant.

Basically, people like them probably because they're pretty, they're stronger, they give the player something to look forward to and hunt for, and it instills a sense of accomplishment I suppose.

By the way, you don't need Prime weapons to be successful in this game. Forma (and Catalyst/Reactors) causes tons of weapons to skyrocket in power, depending on how you mod your frame/weapon. Use what you think looks cool and then Forma/Catalyze what you want. It'll basically be akin to getting Prime weapons.

'Cus bling BLING!

Seriously, there are a lot of prime weapons, so if you don't have any of them, you are missing quite a bit of content, including the glorious Boltor Prime master race.

Also they are better weapons. I mean, no matter how you look at it, a prime is (mostly) an improvement (except Braton Prime?).

I dislike them myself, because im shoehorned into the gold pieces. I know they can't be removed due to logistical issues with the models, but its just quality of life junk. Gold was what my mother wore in the 60s and 70s when it was the fashion. I don't want to be running around in gold, X-amount of years into the future, exploring the galaxy on a mass genocide against fleshy clone people. Its just not pretty.

Sure, better stats, but im willing to sacrifice the stats so I don't look atrocious. (Example, ive sentenced my Frost Prime to an eternity in my Inventory as punishment for being so ugly, while normal Frost shall thrive.)

Agreed.

Personally if it weren't for the statistical improvements, I wouldn't use them. I don't really care for tacky gold on my weapon that doesn't match my usual warframe palette, it interferes with my color scheme and looks out of place. And when there's too much of it i.e. a Prime warframe, it just looks like they're trying too hard to show off their bling.

Luckily I don't care about any of the currently primed warframes, though if they ever primed Zephyr/Valkyr/Vauban/Nekros, I might be sorely tempted... no, forced to wear gold. /wrists

I'd much rather see "Prime" simply be the shimmery effect of the texture, and let us select our own color for it instead of gold... But I know they do it because Orokin style. Meh. There's no reason to say Tenno couldn't paint over the gold. Ninjas are stealthy, they don't stand out and shimmer gold jewelry everywhere.

I have never had any in all the time i have played Warframe over the year playing it or aimed in farming for them

so why do people like them so much ?

You played for a YEAR and never had any prime? Well, I`ve got a feeling that you were playing some other game then...

Who cares how it looks if stats are higher? Seriously, if there was a dung frame with 9000 power stat and 100% power efficiency, do you think people would not use it just cos it looks like a walking pile of dung?

then it's prime version will have 9999 power stat and 110 % efficiency, will look like a flower and everyone will use it

Back on topic:

Prime > vanilla

Why?

Because Cool design, Cool colors and BLING

I prefer the standard version of every item in the game, and I hate the gold.  It's just hideous and anti-ninja.  I like that "most" of the Prime Warframes are mostly cosmetic (the Rhino is irksome).  All of the weapons being straight upgrades is just boring though, and kills variety.  It gets old seeing so many Boltor, Orthos, and Dakra Primes in every game (and Rhinos).

Ember prime have no buffs, but that prime metal is just perfect holster, that prime helmet has no style

loki, free flow mod + body seems heavier for some reason, i like normal helmet more

rhino, a bit faster, not much difference in visual, ugliest prime helmet

mag, both versions look kinda ugly (to my taste), where do these horrible prime helmets come from

frost, normal body looks better but that prime helmet looks good enough to get him

excalibur, prime is epic but unavailable

edit:

forgot prime weapons

all prime melee weapons look better

boltor is too bling and paris looks silly

secondary are not too shiny and recoloring saves them.

I go after them because of Mastery and some do perform better than the normal weapon.

...and it used to be a bit of a status symbol.  A "Hey look at me, I'm so badass, I spent a week in the Void and got Prime everything."  Now you can just buy all your Prime gear and the status is gone.  >.<
