A Not Really Serious Suggestion For Valkyr's Paralysis. :p

So you want to remove half of its cost AND buff it's stunning power?

 

That's not how balance works, you realize. There's always a tradeoff.

 

Personally, I think paralysis is in a fine place atm. It's a latch-ditch saving throw to inch out a few precious seconds of survival for help to arrive, not something that is meant to knock everything down to let you go ham on it.

There isn't any trade offs to the majority of abilities in this game. You also took this suggestion way to seriously. XD

You cant use it whenever you want

 

If you take much damage at all youll find yourself unable to use it again until you step away from combat

 

Also you have to get close which may make you take damage and leave you open to not being able to use it if that what you planed on doing

 

Theres a tradeoff alright

There is the issue of removing the energy cost and making it purely reliant on Shields that the Shields will expire before you even get in range to cast it. Or worse, casting a stun that lasts 3 seconds with only 1 shield point left.

 

I like the idea behind it, make Paralysis more of an ideal ability because very few Valkyr builds out there actually have Paralysis. However the actual balancing of the ability itself is weird because it's basically either useless because you don't have the Shields to cast it, or you literally cast a full stun with 1 point of Shields as the cost (which, considering Valkyr's extreme health and armor values, isn't actually a trade-off at all)

As a Paralysis Valkyr Player - it would be out of balance to implement what you said.

I would like to see Paralysis Crit- not just headshot but actually Crit.

To extend the stun/stagger of Paralysis - you cast it on slowed WarCry enemies. (Or slowed M-Primed enemies)

Granted that is not ideal, but it slows the stun/stagger recovery time of enemies.

A better change to Paralysis (damage wise) would be to change "Finisher Prompts" to be activated by Reload while in melee or the action key+melee (So either square or R1+Circle on PS4)

This would change Paralysis into a short burst AoE 400% melee Farm - with finisher animations being optional, given the new activation prompt. This would significantly improve melee damage with Valkyr and a player would not need a longer stun as they would not waste the stun on 1-2enemies with finisher animations. Instead they could AoE stagger and then just melee combo the whole group with 400% melee multiplier.

It would not make Mobile Defense or Defense missions easier with her as she would still be lacking true AoE CC to complement ranged gun-play, but she would be more of a melee threat then she is now.

EDIT- also to clarify Paralysis : current state because of the Energy cost Paralysis as-is can be cast when there are Zero Shields as a stun or for melee buff if using a high attack speed weapon with a thrusting mobility combo (can lessen chance of finisher animations this way). When Shields are present - Paralysis is more of a burst AoE damage move repurposing Redirection as a damage mod.

(Max Power Strength makes A Redirection+Plus Vigor a decent star-chart AoE nuke as it is spammable with Sentinel's Guardian mod or Raksa's Protect - allowing stun-lock and kill in the short melee range. Max Power Strength WarCry for the enemy slow to maximize enemy recovery time of Paralysis stun/stagger.)
