What Will Happen When This Game Dies?

Yeah I know, depressing topic to talk about but my curiosity exceeds my emotions

What will happen?

The reason I ask is because I know every game comes and goes, every F2P dies eventually and all you can do is remember them graciously and at heart.

The game that hit me the most was City of Heroes, at the end before the servers shut down the developers went all out and gave us a major last battle which included every single player on one map. Incredibly chaotic but everyone enjoyed it and it really hit the community, because when a game like this (Co-op online multiplayer) it really just smacks you in the face.

You won't be able to log in to quickly kill 1mil enemies in 1bil awesome way, no more grinding out until your eyes bleed or doing crazy awesome stuff....

Hard to imagine, but your progress will disappear, with nothing to have it over and that happens with a lot of games. Now Warframe is far from it but something to think about :)

To clarify: I am not saying this will happen soon or anything like that all. I am saying it will happen. It can be next year or it can be 15 years from now

Well, SOE and Cryptic are not involved. NCSoft and Ubisoft are not involved.

Will Warframe die? Maybe. Eventually.

Will it go quietly into the night like SWG or COH? Like Tabula Rasa and most of Ubi's online games for the last 10 years?

Not very likely.

I will worry about it when DE gets bought out by NCSoft (who are the ONLY game developers/publishers I would consign to the ninth level of HELL without a moment's remorse) and not a moment before.

Dude, we're still in beta. At best DE's gonna give it a year or two before they give it full public power.

From there, we'll no doubt continue to get plenty of content - this has been a labor of love for our devs, and I doubt they'll turn their back on us that easy.

So no worries yeah? An expansion pack here, some new star systems there, nothing to worry about.

It's like when I go to bed every night and have those creepy thoughts about death. I outta smack your face for that.

Haha XD

Not all games die, TF2 is still going on

Yes they do...TF2 will die eventually unless Valve does more stuff to it to keep up. But all die, the timespan for that however is dependent on the game. eg. Skyrim is incredibly strong within the modding community, so is Oblivion. Also DE could decide "its time." :/

My hope is that I will have gotten bored before that happens. I hate the thought of a game I want to play suddenly becoming inaccessible to me.

That pain is so heartbreaking, makes you regret all those hours you spent in real life doing important stuff XD

Just kidding, but yeah it is not easy to let go especially if it becomes a habit

Try being part of an experimental MMO. Being part of it as it grows through alpha, through beta, into launch.. seeings it's many problems. seeing it work through most though not all. See game devs in game every single day to talk to players, see the problems and fix them in minutes literally sometimes. See the game evolve and change with new and better ideas. Some from the community.

See NCSoft come along and hand everyone pink slips with a WEEK'S notice. Then pull the plug to make way for their latest FTW MMO. How many people actually still play Aion who are not bots anyway? Yeah, I am sure Tabula Rasa sucked so bad that they had to pull the plug. Sure. They wanted to shove it to Garriot and they did.

And they gave it to everyone else too. And they LAUGHED about it as they offered a week's playtime on Aion for a year spent working on Tabula Rasa, beta testing and play testing so that they could shaft everyone, players and devs alike.

Not the best MMO by a long shot, but LIGHT YEARS beyond what Aion was and is.

NCSoft = SCUM.

Aion is so bad....

NCSoft wasn't too bad with CoH (not sure who original developers were so don't hit me)...

But I more than understand, ever heard of 9Dragons? Asian MMO, freaking awesome, grindy like Warframe but I loved it..new dev came through and now the game is 99% bots with the occasional dev player

Heard of ZU Online? Asian MMO, my first actually. It was pretty bada$$ however, new developer came in and turned into a P2W or Grind 50 hours for 1 hour of fun kind of game...

Let's not turn this around though, what about Warframe? What about DE? What about the community, players, friendships, clans, alliances, fanart etc :S
