Running Two Wf Instances From The Same Pc?

Question

As of somewhere around U14.6, I've been unable to run two simultaneous instances of Warframe.

Legality/morality aside, does anyone have a method to do this that works with the current game?

I used to be able to make it work by having the second install of WF installed on another user and run a shortcut to it that way.

(If you must know, when I run across mods for a trusted friend it's easier for me to log onto his account and give them to him than wait for him to come online. As it stands now I have to pull out my laptop to log into his account while my desktop has mine running, inefficient.)

2.    LICENSE RESTRICTIONS AND LIMITATIONS

The limited, personal use license granted to you in Section 1 is subject to the following restrictions and limitations as well as all other terms and conditions of this Agreement (collectively, the “License Limitations”). You agree that you will not, under any circumstances:

a.     sell, sublicense, assign, rent, lease, sell or otherwise transfer the Software, except as  expressly permitted by this Agreement;

The Account you create is personal to you and Digital Extremes does not allow the transfer of user Accounts.  You shall not purchase, sell, gift or trade any Account, or make any such offer, and any attempt shall be null and void.  Any distribution by you of your Account and/or your Login Credentials (except as expressly provided herein or otherwise explicitly approved of by Digital Extremes) may result in suspension or termination of your Account.

How is he trying to "sell, sublicense, assign, rent, lease, sell or otherwise transfer the Software"?

That is for technicals, in reality DE doesn't mind us sharing accounts with close friends (of course depending on reason, but things like login rewards or micromanaging is just fine)

The above is in case you want to share your account with 100 other people and one of them changes something or does something bad and you want to report, they will just be like "Haha, scrub your account is now locked." :/

Edited post with part of the Terms of User Agreement.

The question still stands. That article of the EUA refers to the "purchase, sell, gift or trade" of an account, and is the context of what the "distribution of your account and/or your login credentials" refers to.

I must be blind because I don't see anything in what you posted that prohibits him from having 2 instances, or even 2 accounts (provided they're his).

Ok, just for those who are wondering, this is most definitely not condoned, or acceptable.

See Below:

Section G of "The License Restrictions and Limitations" suggests activity that has been mentioned in this thread

The limited, personal use license granted to you in Section 1 is subject to the following restrictions and limitations as well as all other terms and conditions of this Agreement (collectively, the “License Limitations”). You agree that you will not, under any circumstances:

g.    exploit the Software, the Service, the Game experience or any portion thereof for any commercial purpose, including without limitation, (i) use at a cyber cafe, computer gaming center or any other location-based site without the express written consent of Digital Extremes; (ii) for gathering in-game currency, items or resources for sale outside the Software; or (iii) performing in-game services in exchange for payment outside the Software (e.g., power-leveling and similar activities).

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

With that said see the following: (I am not answering these questions directly to the person or responding directly to them, so please don't take offense to anything said in the following quotes/responses!)

you do know that no one reads that right?

Regarding the EULA, it is a given that most people are going to click right past it in excitement of playing the game etc...  However, before you start loading two instances up on the same computer and posting on the forums about it etc... You should read it thoroughly.

How is he trying to "sell, sublicense, assign, rent, lease, sell or otherwise transfer the Software"?

That is precisely the question.  We don't know if he is or not, which is exactly why this sort of thing should be avoided at all costs.

(IE.  If some one accidentally walks out of a store with a flashdrive in their pocket and the alarms go off, and he says "oh, I didn't mean to!  I swear!"  It does not matter, he still is going to receive "by 99.9999% of retailers" sadly, even if he really did have it in his pocket "by accident"

The same principle applies here.

How is running 2 instances of the game violating anything?

See my comment to the quote above this.

It's not that it is necessarily violating anything, it is the potential that is there for violation or exploitation.  Just because some one says that he/she isn't using multiple instances to exploit anything listed in the EULA, doesn't mean that he/she is being sincere.

I hope this was thorough enough to answer any questions anyone may have.

Locking this thread for visibility now as to hopefully prevent further potential abuse of this.
