Gelkor Posted September 21, 2014 Share Posted September 21, 2014 (edited) Well, ostensibly the (lore) premise for the game is that humanity still hasn't traveled outside our solar system yet, hence why everything on the solar map is either a planet in our system or a moon or large asteroid (every celestial body we visit is an actual location in the solar system right now taken from an astronomy textbook). The exception (IIRC) are dark sectors, which are (I believe) extrasolar bodies that are only visited by using the solar rails to slingshot beyond the reaches of the Solar System into the Dark Sectors (which is the canon name for space beyond the solar system). Dark sectors are represented on our solar map by the Solar Rails instead of their actual extrasolar bodies.
