AdFinitum
Recently I sold someone a Rage mod. I asked him what he was willing to pay for it and he told me 15p. I said no and offered it to him for 8p. After our trade it turned out that someone tried to sell it to him for 40p. This reallly made me feel vicarious embarrassment. 40 Platinum for a Rage mod is insane and I think if new players get abused like that not knowing the game's economy and eventually loosing all their starter plat to a rip-off trader does Warframe no good. Trading in games can be fun and a nice way to make some in game money. As long it is beneficial to both sides it is just fine. But the non existance of any kind of information on the rough value of things in Warframe turns trading into a shark pool especially for new players. - First of all I dont like it that reckless people make money in the dark corners of Warframe with their perfidious manners - Second I dont like new / unexperienced players being disappointed by Warframe due to it I really wish DE introduced any means of limiting unfair trading. Edit : Seemingly starter plat cannot be spent for trades - which doesnt change the fact that there are plenty of people trying to rip-off unexperienced Tenno. NanoDecerto
People think Rhino Prime chassis is worth 500 plat. So many new people getting ripped off on Xbox lol That happened on PC on the days after his release, but it peaked around 200 a piece. However, the problem with needing to inform new player of the game economy is that the economy is completely made up. You pay what you think it is worth. New players obviously dont have the experience to judge rarity. The only solution is to advise new people not to buy mods with plat...

ClockworkSpectre
If I remember correctly, you can't use the starter plat to trade. But, there is plenty of info out there about what to pay for stuff. Yes it may suck that people try to rip people off, but at the same time it is not hard at all to find out what a reasonable price is, it takes all of a few seconds to look it up, or ask clan members etc. The site http://wftrading.net/ works great it is usually up to date, and like I said, open your mouth and ask people you know. Reason #23 for an in-game auction house. And this is wrong, there is not justification for an Auction House in this game whatsoever. An Auction house would be nothing but disastrous, destroying the value of the vast majority of items that are tradeable and making it nearly impossible for anyone to earn plat. . armedpoop
You cant trade starter plat If people dont know what somethings worth and are willing to overpay for it, how is that the sellers problem? Ignorance is no excuse for overpaying. - First of all I dont like it that reckless people make money in the dark corners of Warframe with their perfidious manners - Second I dont like new / unexperienced players being disappointed by Warframe due to it So you dont like people making a profit? Theres no logic. You should have taken the 15p. Whats a spare 7 plat gonna do for someone anyway? I dont see a problem with this. Any noob has just as much access to websites like WFTrading or TennoArmory as anyone else. The second thing, I do agree with kinda. You really should not get angry that you got ripped off. Its knd of impossible to get riipped off as all trades are consensual. Edited September 22, 2014 by armedpoop
Abenoki
People also like to offer one thing and give you another, happened to me once. I didnt even think to check that there was 2 glaive blades he put in there and clicked accept before i noticed one was a glaive disc. The guy wouldnt trade me my blade he had offered in the first place so I told him "enjoy your little rip off" and reported him and now hes on watch for similar behavior. There isnt anything we can do once the trade is done but when you see this behavior it needs to be screenshot and reported to make it easier for DE to weed out those who would abuse trade. Also make sure to practice safe trading by checking and double checking before you hit accept. as for new players, http://wftrading.net/ is a decent site to get an idea of what you should be paying for something. Dont just pay anything unless it really doesnt matter to you. Edited September 22, 2014 by Echoa
Demon-King-Lamb
Strange. Seems like no one wants to buy all my rare mods/prime stuff for 10 plat. I sold an Arcane helmet for 15 plat. The guy thought I was messing with him. Turns out I wasn't and he was freakin happy that I practically handed him the helmet. Awesome huh?

But not so awesome for you depending on the helmet. Unless you are just a nice person. lol I was ultra suprised when somebody offered me a Vanguard for 40p. Ive always been one to sell my stuff for cheap as I either farm what i need or in the rare case i need weapon/warframe slot i get plat enough for what i need by selling a few things. VKhaun
I don't understand why people keep using this word "econcomy". We have a straight trade system. If it's not worth 500 plat to a person, they just don't hit accept. There is no "ripping off" going on. They got what they paid for every time. If it's worth 500 plat to one person and another person wants 500 plat for it then I see no problem with that transaction. If it's only worth 1 plat to you, no magical force is making you press accept and lose the 499 plat difference. perfectStranger
Reason #23 for an in-game auction house. NO NO NO Not action houses, those would only make prices levitate, and since platinum is real money it is not a good idea for users... no ok let's say it clearly: as user who value his own money, willingly wanting an auction house in platinum is a plain example of "/fullretard mode on"* At least it should be an inversed auction house, e.g. selling platinum, which has a fixed ratio to money, in exchange for in-game goods (like already is in trade now i.e."WTS 30plat"), but then it' wouldn't be much useful to search for goods to buy. Actually a Tradepost ala GW2 would be soooo much more better, but i see where people are coming when talking about auction houses... *No pun intended Edited September 22, 2014 by perfectStranger
ranks21
mod prices should vary, the lowest a mod should sell for is 12p the equivalent of a pair of weapons slot or rares no matter how common 20p the price of a frame slot. now event mods the ones that's recent and only one set per player then the highest bidder wins. I'd rather give away a mod than sell it lower than a weapon or frame slot.. we all need slots.

Rekkou
It seems like you assume just because there is someone out there selling items at ridiculous price, it means there will be a careless poor players who will desperately buy it with all plats they have left. Most of the times, it's the seller that is immediately mocked in trade chat or just left hanging for days. (PSN)i_illusion
It's a free market, there are no set prices. It's what a player is willing to spend and sell for is what makes up our market. Yes there is a price that some people feel as standard, but honestly if someone was willing to spend 40plat on a mod then that's none of your concern. Some people might feel scammed, but honestly if you were willing to pay at that price then you shouldn't be feeling bad. Your not required to make the purchase, you paid the amount because you felt like the price was worth it at the time. If you found out you could had bought something later, you should just be kicking yourself in the rear later because it was your fault for being impatient and not waiting for something to come up cheaper. Long story short, pay for what you feel it's worth. Check to see what other people are paying for if you can, but ultimately once the trade is done, no one is in the wrong. Well unless the trader lied in some way and scammed you (giving you a uncommon 5 fusion core instead of a Rare 5 for example.)
