Fusing Mods

Does it matter if you upgrade unwanted mods before you "feed" them to mods that you are going to use? e.g. If I have five copies of a mod I don't want, will they give me the same benefit separately than if I first fuse those five together for a higher level version of the unwanted mod? (and is the credit cost equivalent)?

Dont do that. Its a huge loss in fusing power. When i try to fuse a max rank serration into another rank 0 serration, the mod level of the new serration only goes up to level 3 or 4. This means you dont get even 1/32 of the fusion power you have invested into that mod back.
