I know I will get a lot of flack for this BUT what if we were to remove Coptering how it is and finally fix that bug.

 

AND here's the big one, add Dashing and air Dashes to compensate.  Having them be a static and albeit slightly restricted dash.

 

Think of the ground dash like the one in metroid games where the longer you run the faster you get but here you'd just double tap the sprint button for the increased running speed that takes up a static un-alterable amount of stamina so that you can really build towards it, giving the heavier frames less stamina consumption while the lighter faster ones have a higher consumption rate.

 

While the air dash will be a bit more moddable but slightly harder to pull off, hmm a good example could be like a short range variant of tailwind but with a smaller energy cost that could be used during melee channeling.  Allowing for sword alone type players to use a air dash to get near a flying mob and hopefully have a air combo or have the ground slam drag flying enemies into the ground.  while channeling efficiency affecting the air dash range.

Coptering is no longer a bug and has been confirmed by the Dev's to now be an intended feature so I don't believe it will be going anywhere any time soon. 

 

I think Geoff wanted to improve the animations for it at some point to make it look better, not sure whether that's still going to happen though.

 

The air dashes sound interesting once air combos are added into the game as to help with the movement to catch flying enemies like ospreys.

Not intended at first, but popular enough to keep.

I think this is the reason I hate it the most (besides being able to cross the entire Corpus Dam defence tileset in one smooth copter.)

 

If an 'air dash' could replace the appearance of coptering, I'd totally be for it. Perhaps it would even be a dynamic animation, swiping at nearby enemies as you thunder on by.

I know that, the problem with it is that people decide a weapon is not good if it isn't able to copter.  With Kronen a couple of threads were just about how it doesn't copter same with Scindo Prime or Heavy Weapons.  People complain they don't copter and thus aren't worth it.   I myself feel if we had something better that didn't work on Attack Speed of weapons but rather Sprint speed making frames have a weight that they seem to not have.

Not really. Dakra prime has no copter and it was used like crazy, Orthos prime, Bo prime, Galatine(before  they nerfed the balls off of it). I've never seen anyone decide if a weapon was good by it being able to copter
