Redundant Drops

Before I begin, it should be noted that I understand RNG is RNG. But the issue herein is more of a systemic problem with employing a completely random Random Number Generator. For the pastfew months off and on I've been farming Raptor for Nova Systems and had no luck.

This wouldn't be an issue in things like the Void, where exists a much larger loot table, and thus its understood that its part of how it works. Raptor, however features a substantially smaller loot table, and given the fact that the other 2 major things on it have been dropping no problem, and theyre supposed to have an equal (or close to it) chance to drop, makes it a little ridiculous.

There is a fairly simple sollution (in theory anyway), which is to reduce the drop chance of redundantly dropped items. For example: if I were to farm a particular boss with X, Y and Z on its primary loot table, and X and Y drop ten times, without Y dropping ever (for me personally), then the next time I run said dungeon the drop chances of X and Y get dropped by say 5%, and that chance then goes to everything else that has a chance to drop.

So if X and Y drop for me 10 times for me, the chances for X and Y go down from (say) 10% to 5% (each). The removed 10% then goes to Z and anything else (probably less rare) which drops from that boss.

But if Y and Z drop for my friend, the same happens, except the chance goes to X instead of Z.

It can be difficult to farm parts for frame.. but if they did this for frames, people would demand it for the void too.

If that happens to the void, RIP trading prime parts.

I can understand where you are coming from, having run Lech Kril 30+ times to get Frost.  (I stopped counting at 30 because the RNG was just that bad on getting that last part)

Though, I did get Nova day 1 when the drops were "bugged" in 3 runs. So *shrug* RNG is RNG. It's random for a reason.  =/ I have terrible luck when it comes to trying to stock prime parts to sell.

while i understand your plight, DE already altered the drop rates on bosses to actually cause them to drop a blueprint every time instead of ~60% like it used to be. (iirc this was around u11)

i ran raptor almost 100 times for those systems over the course of a weekend.

You didn't cite any estimate of the number of missions you've run, but if you've really been at it for months I would think Raptor just needs his tables tweaked. Need to check and make sure no one accidentally put a decimal in the wrong place or something.

Advanced drop mechanics don't really work if they're advertised. People just do the math to see how many runs before it's almost certainly guaranteed and then declare that a grind. RNG has to be RNG, or else it's not RNG. There must be opportunity to be lucky and unlucky, and a factor to balance the two. Trading in our case. That said... you can't trade non-prime frame parts AFAIK, so if you've done a very large number of runs and never seen a third of the drop table I would call foul on that and say it must be a bug.

Dude. Let's say you go to a gambling table.

There are only two possibilities of a coin flip and let's say such a game exists.

You win if you get heads, lose if you get tails.

You play 50 games. Is there a chance you will lose all 50? Yes

Is it a likely chance? No.

You are just incredibly unlucky.

Got Nova in 3 runs.

Some take 5, some take 10. Some could take 50. It's all luck.
