EVENT ENDS: SEPTEMBER 29, 2014 @ 12:00 PM EDT

A message to all Tenno wishing to study the remnants of the Orokin:

Tenno,

I do hope you take this message with an open mind. I've been able to, with the help of some colleagues, decode the language of the TennoI created a post here (https://forums.warframe.com/index.php?/topic/314515-tenno-language/), and it has become quite popular. Those involved have been finding glyphs with Tenno script throughout them, even releasing bits and pieces to the Warframe lore.

I have an expedition in mind, however, based on a theory of mine. For those of you who have been to the Void, you must be familiar with the Orokin Empire. I, being a collector of rare items, have made several endeavors into this "blinding night", as some have called it, and noticed several things. For one, there seem to be glyphs on the floor of the Orokin rooms. Some of these repeat, and seem to form what could be words. I believe that we, the treasure seekers of the Void, may have been stepping on the ancient language of the Orokin this entire time.

Go to the Void. If you can find conclusive proof or disproof on an Orokin language, you will certainly profit from this journey. Not only will you receive rewards from the Void, but I will be willing to award bonuses to those who show profound performance.

Regards,

-NearlyDedicated

HERE'S WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO DO

- Organize a Tenno cell of four members.

- Journey into the Void. The higher the tier, the higher the reward!

- Take screenshots using your CODEX SCANNER of the glyphs found in the Void! Make sure to remove your HUD if you're designated by your cell to take screenshots! These will be used in your forum post.

- Work together to determine whether or not there is an Orokin language! Those who can conclusively prove / disprove this theory will be rewarded.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

- If a cell cannot back their submission, their submission will be nulled.

- Any use of photo editing software will null a submission.

REWARDS

- Rewards are based on the Tower's tier, and the proof / disproof of a translation. Only one cell will be rewarded, but the tier they complete the mission in will determine the reward.

TIER ONE: Each member will receive two Void keys, randomly selected.

TIER TWO: Each member will receive two Forma blueprints.

TIER THREE: Each member will receive two rare Prime components (discussion of components will be completed after cell has provided their submission).

TIER FOUR: Each member will receive a forma blueprint, rare Prime component, and a [REWARD HIDDEN]

"BELKA" CLAN

All Tenno who participate in this community event are eligable to be invited to Belka clan, a clan of my own. I have built the dojo by myself. The map is below. Note: not all labs have been completed; some are still in construction, and a Solar Rail is currently in the works.

There are currently nine open spots for Belka clan.

Those are the ones, yes indeed!

I should probably have mentioned I know the answer to these runes. There is a meaning to them; I can't say whether or not they are a language, but there is significance to them. I'm interested to see what the community comes up with.

In that case, I'll present my findings now.

These runes can be found on any tiled floor in the void or derelict. Flat floors and other decorative tiles do not feature them. Only the pictured tiles have these runes on them.

The runes are inactive when a tenno is not nearby. They activate in a perfect circle around a tenno. The circle can cut off runes, depending on the tenno's position. Enemies do not appear to activate them.

There are several distinct runes. They repeat themselves in an even pattern across the entire floor area.

Now, the analysis:

I do not believe these runes are a language. They are not placed in a location where written language would typically be found, and because they only activate around whatever is walking through, they would not be useful as warning signs. In addition, there are too few to form more than a single word, providing they use the written language structure other factions share, they are not placed in any readable order unless they would be read separately, and the same pattern repeats itself continuously.

My best guess as to their function is that they are purely decorative. The Orokin seem quite fond of decorative touches.

I don't see this event resurrecting, haha. So it looks like you're our victor! If you have a PS4 account, send me a friend request and I'll correspond with you for your reward.

No PS4 account sadly :/

I had fun anyways, obscure lore is something I always enjoy. I'm interested to know what conclusion you came to about these things?

The significance is that there are four glyphs, as well as four polarities. While not confirmed, I believe each glyph corresponds to a Tenno clan, represented in a similar way by polarities.

My next endeavor is the glyphs on a Warframe when using power; I'll be financing a search soon.

I just noticed something...

You said these runes only activate around players, not mobs. While I could be completely wrong here, doesn't it seem possible that these runes have some correlation to Warframe technology?

I would simply dismiss my own theory here, but seeing as certain Prime Warframes react with Towers...I find it possible (even if not plausible) that these runes react with Warframe systems.

That would be my lorewise explanation. The circuitry in the floor reacts to the Void energies of the tenno, causing it to glow.

Awesome! I just wanted to add my two cents to this conversation...

First off, I agree with vaugahn in that the symbols on the floor are not a language on their own. The repetition of most of these symbols would suggest that they are probably just for decoration rather than having any significance in their content.

Also, the language of the Orokin is probably the same or a similar language as the tenno, as seen in the deciphering thread in this forum (I will post a link to this later), seeing as how the Orokin, if i have my lore right, created the tenno.

Now this almost completely defuncts the theory of the symbols on the floor being a language on their own, but while I was looking at some of these characters and comparing them to the known tenno language (I will post pictures of this comparing a couple of the symbols to the tenno letters later), I could see a few similarities between them. Not only this but there are ways certain tenno words and phrases are shown together in blocks which are consistent to how some of the blocks in the void look (again I will post pictures describing this similarity).

So it is possible these symbols could be a writing style that is simply a more blocky version of the tenno language. Then there's the fact that these symbols and series of blocks keep being repeated all across the floor. Now, using my very limited knowledge on using calligraphy/words as an art form or a way to decorate a room (art history for the win), the most common place you would see decorative writing were in A) palaces and B) mosques or churches (using Islamic art as my source for this observation). The content of these writings pertained to religion and holiness, thus blessing the room in which the writing was placed and protecting the people inside from demons or devilish influence. This is also kind of seen in Japanese culture, which is more relevant to what we're talking about because orokin and tenno are loosely based on japanese culture, where they would put purification tabs on buildings or objects that were thought to be haunted or demented in order to purge it of the demons within. These phrases (symbols) would generally not vary often due to the content being very specific in topic and were sometimes repeated.

Now, I could just be rambling here. There might be no connection to the void symbols at all. After all, there are few accounts of calligraphy on the floor being used in the same manner as the writing on the walls or purification tabs. But if the orokin had used this stylistic version of their alphabet to decorate their floor, it is possible they used is as a way to purify the beings that walked upon it, purging any demons from within. The blue glow that surrounds where the person stands could be symbolic of this process.

But it's just a theory :)

(sorry about the lack of pictorial content. I will add them as soon as I get home and have a computer)

Good stuff! Again, this thread is kinda grey-matter because of the high probability of plain aesthetic value.

However, when I compared these symbols to the Tenno language, I, too, saw a similarity. I also see the similarity to the Islamic art (Eastern for that matter), and seeing as the Tenno have similarities to the Eastern cultures...it's definitely worth exploring.

Again, good stuff! I love potential lore, even if it's possible it's complete kubrow sh...excretion.
