The Hipster Community: Toxic Or Trailblazin'?

Probably the most common vibe I have observed recently being generated in these forums is that of the "hipster" mentality.  These are the wave-makers, the rule-breakers, the naysayers and the creative muses.  Frankie's hit "My Way" is their national anthem.  Additionally, Burger King caters to these free-wheelin' folk.

I'll keep this short.

Hipsters, ironically, are as unoriginal as the meta "machine" they rage against.  Since the beginning of time, humans have had an inordinate fascination with this twisted view of individuality and resistance to being counted amongst the majority.  In pursuit of their "uniqueness",  this being different for different's sake, many find themselves isolated (for both valid and invalid reasons) which only exacerbates this deep-rooted disdain of the majority.

Creativity and uniqueness have been and should be utilized to benefit the "greater good".   Unfortunately yes, you live in a community.  Unfortunately yes, you live in a society.  Unfortunately yes, you play on a team.  No man is an island, and if your shootin-from-the-hip hipster ways are a detriment to those around you, stop.

Sorry, there is no Hipster Island in the South Pacific to where all the conforming-to-nonconformity can escape.  Many of you are "doomed" to function as part of a society, a community, or a team.   If you want to be different, by all means, be different.  Let your creative, unencumbered, shackle-less spirits soar to the heavens......but.....

If your unique "style" is a bane to your fellow teammates, if your unique affinity for using scissors to cut grass renders you impotent in reaching a common goal, or if your daring to be different breeds contempt and wastes the time and energy of those who have had the misfortune of stepping into your sphere of "hipsterism", then maybe a rethink is in order.

We are unique because we each exist.  There is no two alike in this world.  You don't have to become a slave to practicing counterproductive measures that frustrate and isolate you from your fellow man just to be "hip".

You are "hip" because you are you.  Now, let's see what works well, yes, creatively, and let's play like a team!!

IMO there are 3 types of players in here.

-Those who use the most popular setups(1)

-Those who use whatever they like and have fun(2)

-Those who use the most unpopular setups to somewhat stand out(3)

1 and 3 are always hating on each other

2 can jump between 1 and 3 and has the most fun "playing the game"

3 are bitter at everything because they gotta use "sucky" gear to somehow stand out from everyone else, these guys have the least fun

1's will always go fo efficiency because someone somewhere done all the math and thinking for them

2's just want to have fun \o/

3s want to prove to 1s that they are "better players" who don't need no cookiecutter builds, because they are strong, independent bl...oops

So, I'm guessing you ended up with a "loadout pioneer" on a high-level run and this is your method of venting, or you've grown tired of people calling Boltor Prime bad just because it's in the meta.

"Loadout Pioneer".  Lol, I like that.  No, I'm all about being creative when it comes to being effective.  If we had limitless choices where those choices offered the same potential efficacy, my thread probably wouldn't exist.  The reality is that by game design, we don't.  What I'm addressing is the "play my way" mentality that disregards being beneficial to the sum or group, and instead creates an artificial individuality that exalts self, team be damned.

Can't we be creative and unique and still be coherent units that kick some digital &#!?

I don't know what your post refers to exactly but I assume based on the replies that it's people using underrated gear on high level missions where teamwork is essential.

If that's the case, I've run three T4 Defense missions with recruiting people who brang half way leveled frames and weapons.

One was a rank 16 Vauban with a Latron, He was mastery  6 or 7 so he could have gone better...
One was a Nova (ok) with no primary and a rank 8 Embolist.

The others were random warframes that had no use on such a mission and were also carrying this kind of gear, even if maxed it was far from effective.

I like to play Nyx on high level missions, and even as a CC caster I did more than 60% damage on all those rounds...

Also as a Nyx I didn't have much support to fight vor, I managed to kill him by myself once while they were derping around but all the other times he slaughtered all of us because of lack of engagement.

The OP wasn't particularly well-written.

"shackle-less"?

It's not exactly the best possible use of impotent to describe a person as "impotent in" something. Try "impotent to" instead.

I see what seems to be a little confusion about the usage of commas versus semicolons.

The phrase "fellow teammates" is logically redundant. You can have fellows and you can have teammates, but both those words serve the same logical function here.

I always thought that about calling the elderly "old aged pensioners", it's like telling them the same thing 3 times.
