Kubrows Bark Too Frequently (In Arsenal?)

Hey there,

I am posting this not because I've noticed it personally but because people reported issues on the Kubrow Feedback Megathread and I thought I should relay it further,

I like my Kubrow, however, it seems that the recent update make him a bit annoying. After the recent 14.5 update, he seems to bark and howl every 10-15 seconds, which is starting to get very annoying. It went from being a quite, cute kubrow, to being a loud, annoying kubrow. Hopefully the barking and howling is scaled back some.

^yes that is XB1 player but worth checking on PC too:

I have to say, I love my Kubrows and I take a lot of care into naming and customizing them.

That being said - whenever I am in my Arsenal tweaking my mods, the MOST.ANNOYING.DAMN.THING is that my doge will just not stop barking the exact same, repetitive way every few seconds! If this is fixed I will be a happy Tenno, I am actually at the point where I just mute my sound or am literally screaming at my dog to shut up

^PC player so issues probably carried over

I will try to provide as many details as possible, maybe those are enough for now though

Thanks!

This is very annoying. I do not want to hear it when im working with a mods...

And its bad enough that if I minimize the game I still hear sound, but if I am too close to the dog and minimize it continues to bark.

Muting otis was great, id love to also be able to mute the dog and the radio.... The first 50 times was meh, the next 500 times are just really annoying.

I think the problem is that, occasionally, the game seems to read activity in arsenal as the same cue that triggers the Kubrow to wake up when you open up the incubator/mouse over the Kubrow entry in the arsenal. It's also in part distressing because the Kubrow won't get bored and go to sleep, and those of us whom have had dogs and/or like to 'baby' our Kubrows feel bad because we're ignoring them.

Not to make it sound like we are in any way unaware of the fact that Kubrows are not actual living things; but, at least in my case, years of living with dogs means that my response to the sounds dogs make is very much a reflexive and non-conscious response.

stop feeding it and the barking will go away.

That..

Weirdly it made me smile but its not normal if that's the first thing you think of XD

Your Kubrow will not be audible when you are in your arsenal or mods.  This will be in the next major update.

Knew I could count on you Mr George! :D

Its starting to be obvious all liset sounds annoy the players: ordis, radio, kubrow, etc

I would say they aren't necessarily bad or should be removed, but its the consistency of how much they produce noise and how much they repeat the same lines/sounds.

That is exactly the problem, the fact that is repeats. If each message only played once or two per week/month, then ok, but the fact you can hear the same message over and over starts to drive me crazy. This anoyance is made worse when you are trying to focus on something and the voices come in to distract you.

I already think this ship and new planet setup is harder and more difficult to use then the previous systems, no need to add audio to drive me even more crazy.

Aw. I actually liked hearing my Kubrow in the background. Gave a sense that the universe wasn't paused while you mucked about your inventory.

Edit: wow. I see most of the players in this thread are a bunch of old people yelling about that "racket" while they're trying to read the newspaper.

While I agree more lines would be nice for Ordis, Lotus, and the radio, and perhaps a few different kinds of barks or shuffling or growling or etc from the Kubrows, I'm in total disagreement about making the whole damned ship silent. That's boring and, as hinted above, makes the game feel like it's not a living, breathing world. You want silence like an old curmudgeon? Turn off your volume.

I got no problem, but I saw it as my responsibility to report an issue regarding the Kubrows as a few people came forth with it :/

It's a non issue. My kubrow has yet to bark in the way you've said they do. She barks twice after awhile, then is silent for at least a few minutes. I loved that. It showed that she was interested in what I was doing instead of just being another piece of furniture. Now that's exactly what she's going to be.

Mr George, could you please add an option for it like a tick box or something for "Disable sounds whilst in HUD" which applies to all HUD and in-mission it is muffled.

Makes everyone happy! ^^

It's not a consistent issue; more importantly, I'm pretty sure it's a bug that people are experiencing, and not the normal behavior that you are. I've been tempted to write a bug report on it multiple times; but haven't been able to identify the cause.

Essentially, however, whichever Kubrow is active appears to be caught in some kind of loop: they continuously behave as though they have just been awoken by the player, usually repeating an idle every few seconds (barking, prancing and barking, etc.), and only stop (usually immediately going to sleep) after exiting the arsenal (I have also had this bug with the mod collection).

I have had this persist for over an hour while I was listening to a podcast and playing with loadouts.

I actually absolutely agree that I would prefer to keep sound, rather than total silence; but this is an issue. I contend, however, that it's a bug that needs fixing, rather than complaints about normal behavior.

Welcome to having a REAL dog. Imagine having that happen whenever you're about to do ANYTHING interesting or difficult in Borderlands 2.

I have had a real dog before. The difference is that I can't put the game down and go play with the Kubrow, because the Kubrow does not exist outside of the game. I would love to be able to do so, but that isn't really an option here.

And yes, I can "interact" with the Kubrow, but that isn't really the same thing.
