Question

I have just started this game. Playing as Mag started with skana, kunai, paris weapons. Was wondering if anyone can offer advice/help just killed the jackal last night. Was wanting weapon suggestions for the Rank up (still on first one) always run out of time at three enemies remaining on first wave. Also what is a good warframe to get next? Was thinking about going for Loki.

Sorry if wrong place/format to ask

A good warframe to get next is Rhino. His parts drop from Jackal.

Once you reach Mastery Rank 2, obtain the Karak, Kunai (Non-MK1) and the Orthos. These set of gear are not too hard to farm and are solid gear to help you unlock the other planets.

The Braton (not mk1) should do nicely at that early a stage, with the benefit of being available for credits immediately. If you are more patient, any primary weapon blueprint you can buy and craft should be a significant upgrade over the mk1-Paris.

Have you been modding your weapons by any chance? Serration (even Broken) will help hugely, as will Speed Trigger.

(Rhino is a good second frame, but if you find yourself surviving using Mag, widely considered a "squishy" frame, then you might want to consider going straight onto more aggressive frames.

For your next rank test, the Lex should perform well, and is purchased pre-built, although 50,000 credits might hurt.

Melee weapons scale less, so feel far more powerful in the early game. The Skana should perform nicely, although you likely will have moved onto something slightly better by then.)

Loki parts drop from the Hyena pack on Neptune, which may be a little beyond you for the moment.

Bow weapons are good but take some getting used to/modding to get to a reasonable draw speed, and may be a detriment to the rank 1 test.  Fortunately you can purchase the MK1 Braton or Strun, or the full Braton or Strun in the marketplace for credits, which will give you a more rapid-fire primary weapon which may be better suited to the Rank 1 Mastery test.  There are a variety of weapons to upgrade to in the marketplace, some purchasable with credits, others you need to purchase the blueprint and craft it yourself.

At Rank 3 you can build a Rhino, whose parts drop from the Jackal.

Also consider farming and crafting the Seer and Cronus, a pistol and sword whose blueprints drop from Captain Vor.

i have got a Latron Prime Blueprint from a void mission. Also have a Rhino Blueprint dropped from the Jackal. I have been modding my weapons have not got many for weapons mostly for the war frame.

Honestly started to try out Loki :p but realized he was not one of starting three anymore

I applaud you for going after Loki, he was my starter frame and he's still one of my favorites. That said he is a bit tough to get the hang of and squishy to boot, but if you're not having issues with survivability on mag you should be fine. That said loki drops from the boss on Neptune, a rather high level planet which will take a while to get to on your own unless you have friends to taxi you there.

If you're willing to put a little money into the game (or happen to get a discount coupon as a login reward) it is worth picking up a little bit of platinum and buying Lokie for platinum in my opinion. "Starter" warframes (Excalibur, Volt, Mag & Loki) are only 75 platinum from the store, this includes a slot for them along with an installed reactor (together worth 40 platinum) so you get the frame instantly available for only  35 platinum essentially. They are really good deals, to put it in perspective most cosmetic items cost 50 to 75 platinum.

With weapons the Braton (not Mk-1) is a very solid weapon and is available for only credits in the market. It should be plenty to get you through your mastery test as you'll be able to engage multiple targets faster than with the Paris.

As for secondary weapons the Sicarus is a rather underrated but very useful pistol available for credits, it's burst fire so the recoil limits its range a bit but it is much more user friendly than the comparatively expensive Lex.

For melee weapons the Orthos is a good choice early on as it's very reasonable resource-wise to build. If you don't like the feel or look of it however I'd recommend picking up the blueprint for one of the dual sword type weapons, I find they generally have the best mix of damage, speed, and range for melee weapons.

Mag is extremely fun and is squishy. Only problem have is against groups of MOA with the turrets and no energy. have no money so that is out of question (no job atm) i was looking at the Mire for melee with blueprint but will look at others if they are suggested. Also sadly highest friend i got is 14 and has Neptune unlocked but still might be a bit high for us to do

Gelkor is sage advice here friend, Loki is far, far outta reach for you. you've finished the tutorial so should have a few good mods and hopefully some creds.

your biggest issue at them moment is your MR. you need to rank up once you get there or all affinity gained is wasted. obviously the bow sux. there, I said it. fully levelled, and modded right the Paris is a one hit kill on anything, all day, everyday, guarandamnteed, but for a low level player it's a liability. use some creds and just buy a Braton Mk1.

now, elitists will crucify me for this but keep farming Jackal for Rhino parts and creds. just keep doing it, even once you've got all his BP's boss missions give the best XP and creds for low players, so keep wracking them up. once you have all his parts and a decent amount of creds build him, then go farm Vor for Cronus and XP/creds and build that. after the tutorial the game opens up along a predetermined path, so Rhino is the first available frame and Loki being one of the last lol.

focus on weapons for now. as I've said the frames open up in sequence and until you've got some decent levels under you you won't be able to deviate from that. so farm for credits and resources, build and level weapons and farming available bosses for BP's. weapons are it, I can't stress that enough. with a good weapon(see Quanta) you can take a brand new unlevelled frame into a Dark Sector survival and go at least 8 mins, no joke.

now once you get to MR5 you should be able to solo and hold you own in a team for T2 void missions, and at MR6 the game really opens up and you'll be preparing for ODD.

yeah have noticed seems like they do come in a certain order. Just preference on play style for me. like to me rhino don't seem that enjoyable but if i have to farm for that in order to get any further will do.

All the advice and suggestions are appreciated
