Why Doesnt De Puts Their Youtube Tutorial Videos In-Game?

I'm pretty sure new players would appreciate the detailed and more complete Tutorial that the videos give than the codex, just put the option to see the video inside the tutorial like this:

WqRDaXl.jpg

click it and we will se this video without getting out of the game (like any Cutscene viewer in other games, ESC/O/B to get out and all that)

Same with the Dark Sectors, or any "Introduction Video" DE makes on Youtube.

there be subtitles for other languages ofc.

hmm.... should this be in feedback?

I agree, new players already have too much grinding to do, so they don't necessarily want to sit there and read a bunch of codex pages.

Who even read those? I never looked at anything else than dark sector and that was only few first chapters.

Reading is probably faster than watching a video btw.

Besides I just do all my learning about that game while I'm at work by going to random wiki pages :D

Would it be possible with the way everything currently works in-game?

What I meant was would Warframe/Codex/UI be able to support video?

I personally have no idea, but I do know that things like static videos and cinematics in games tend to take up worlds more data space than individual game elements. Even if the video/cinematic isn't very big.

My guess is it's possible code-wise but it might be a hefty burden on the engine. Hard so say either way and I'm just speculating.

Otherwise, I'd say that's a great idea. And in the very least, if putting the videos in the codex isn't an option, they could put in a button that opens up your browser and plays the youtube video - just like when you click on News links.

Or perhaps the reason they've continued making these videos is because they intend to link them to the game?

When you're a new players and finally decide to read those codex pages, you're likely already pumped, and ready for your next mission. With the attention span of a squirrel, it would be much easier to watch a video, than to read - reading in this stage of excitement is honestly physically painful.

It might work, if they are like the NEWS Links, I dont know how it works for XB1 and PS4, but for PC, unless you have Steam, clicking it and it opening the Web Browser while minimizing the game might be seen as an incovinience for some people.

It's already an inconvenience but they do it anyway. :P (ie. platinum discounts, livestreams, build notes, etc.)

And besides, as long as they put in a mediation screen that says "This link will open up your browser and redirect you to the video. Continue? Y/N" then I think it'd be perfectly find as a last resort.

Should'nt be a hefty burden on the engine. Plenty of current free to play MMO's do it effortlessly (dragon nest, skill system has a right click to play tutorial videos aswell as the character creation screen of boi/woi, DN and blade and soul. + almost every video game in the past 25 years has used video files as tutorials running within the game. Is especially present in racing games such as GTR and Grand Prix 4.

If being a burden on the engine or hard drive space is a concern what they could do is simply script a automated action or a simple image overlay onto the screen and sync a audio while the animation is playing. I reckon i could make a mockup flash tutorial of each section modding in a few hours.
