Performance Drop?

Day or so ago I ran this game just fine with no constant hiccups but today with only it and steam running, I suddenly get frame drops for no reason in the ship and in the void and in normal missions.

 

It wasn't a one time thing, played for like 2 or 3 hours and I was hovering between 20 to 40 fps in missions when I normally hit from 40 to 60.

 

Something has changed, and I have not touched a single thing on both my computer or in game options.

 

What did this update do?

This hotfix defaulted the renderer to DX10 if the card supports it.... why? God alone knows.

Anyway, in the launcher press the settings icon, and try unticking DX10.
