Question About Warframe Msi Installer

Okay, so before you ask, yes, I viewed this topic https://forums.warframe.com/index.php?/topic/240944-warframemsi-file-wont-launch/ . And I have a few questions...

 

First, why is the Installer even in MSI Format? Is there a specific reason for this?

Second... Why is AVG a problem with Warframe? Third Question branching off of the Second, does Avast! have the same inherent issues?

 

I've tried other freeware anti-virus programs, but nothing runs as smoothly for me as Avast! and I've been using it for sometime, so I'm not really eager to switch to something else...

that sounds like the file may be corrupted, or something like that. definitely not working normally.

 

EDIT: Also, would it be fine to download Warframe via Steam? Steam doesn't seem to be giving me any problems with the download unlike the MSI File.

yes. that would be fine.

i assume your Anti-Virus solution is pinning Warframe as a false positive?

 

just make an exception for the entire Warframe directory then.

MSI is a windows installer package. It is in this format because it is for installing warframe on windows.

Well, to this, this is really the reason why I'm asking this question... You see, when I first installed it I had thought I had installed all of the data in an easy to find location, but it seemed to auto-install everywhere BUT the actual Folder I selected. I had to recently uninstall because I need to make an exception and I can't freaking do that unless I can find the Folder it should be in.

For some reason every time I click the MSI the program auto-stops... It doesn't even give me a pop-up window 'SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH THE INSTALL' just... never even starts the process or anything. I tried trouble-shooting the problem but I couldn't find this exact issue online.

Well I'm downloading the Client straight off of the site, so I think it's my computer. Anyway, I'll install via Steam since that seems to be a much easier way to go. Thank you for answering my questions.
