I Don't Think Darvo Is As Weak As He Seems.

So I was doing what I usually do hang out by the radio listening in on stuff going on, and then I hear a message from the grineer saying that Darvo is behind a "a rash of deaths, and stolen cargo" Only three missions involved Tenno the luring of stalker, and two rescues(sorta). Only the rescue that is apart of the first quest has us bashing heads with grineer. Is it possible Darvo isn't some weak scrawny businessman, but a full blown pirate? Like not a business pirate, but someone who actively goes around hijacking ships with a personal crew. I mean it seems odd the Grineer would mention something like that if he wasn't actively seen with the group during the killings, and theft.

What do you think?

He doesn't seem like the type to get his hands unnecessarily dirty. My bet is that he is responsible for a lot of stuff, but not in a direct, hands-on sort of way. He probably orchestrates things to happen or hires people to do his dirty work. I mean, he kind of did the same thing with us... several times in fact.

I'd bet on it. If he's sharp enough to get Tenno to do what he wants, I bet he's sharp enough to get a bunch of dumb old crewmen to do his bidding. He doesn't seem like the type to personally engage in combat though.

Or, the Grineer could just be inflating his reputation for propaganda purposes. Hard to tell. Space Pirate Darvo is cooler though, so let's go with that.

the thing is How do the Grineer know exactly that it was Darvo behind it unless someone told on him, or the Grineer actually SAW him. I guess it could be propaganda though. Maybe Darvo likes being the most wanted man just below the Tenno in the sol system.

The best way for a salesman like Darvo to get his products and services known is to get his name out there, after all.

After we resuce him in the beginning quest he sends us to gather materials for the negator.  On that mission will kill a bunch of Corpus but he tells us not to worry about it because they sell arms to the Grineer.  So... from the point of view of the Grineer, their suppliers were all murdered and the cargo stolen and it was done by the Tenno that just rescued Darvo from them.  I can see why they would be blaming him for being behind theft and mass murder.

The way he jokes about the gun when you give it to him during the rescue quest "Now, which end does the hurting come out of? Heheh, I kid, I kid" definitely suggest he's not only no stranger to using a weapon, but to combat as well. I'd definitely say he's able to hold his own - but why fight your own way out when you can have supersoldiers escort you?

Darvo is the son of Frohd Bek, a big power on the Corpus Board, and he bailed on Bek trying to groom him to take a seat on the Board. That pretty much shows that he's not the goofball he makes himself out to be. He also managed to trick the Tenno into taking out the Stalker for him.

He's basically a rogue Corpus merchant prince, and since he's out on his own I'm sure he's using *ahem* extra-legal means to make profit and like any good Corpus probably has all manner of bots/MOAs/grunts to do the dirty work. I wouldn't be surprised at all to find he's got all kinds of revenue streams going.

If I was him, I'd make sure the Grineer knew I was behind it, because there's no such thing as bad publicity. If you're already dealing with the seedier side of things, having the Grineer Defense Forces broadcast your wanteds all over the Origin System is a great way to get free advertising.

I can't see him actually getting in a fight, but I can definitely see him being in charge of a group of mercenaries or a personal security force or something.

I'm pretty sure that's Frohd Bek talking on the radio during that transmission. The voice is different than the other grineer transmissions and Bek's name is mentioned at some point in the message as well, I believe. There are transmissions of corpus origin that are picked up by the liset's radio, but they are few in number compared to the grineer transmissions.

Edit: Also, the corpus board is mentioned in the same message talking about darvo. Why would the grineer be talking about the corpus board?

I was kind of thinking the Corpus would have higher pitched voices. Plus the message about Darvo was gargled as if it was Grineer. I doubt Frohd would want his only son to be hunted, or even broad cast such. There is that chance he could be doing to cover his own butt, and there was that time he fed Alad V. to the wolves, but I mean Darvo is his own son. Seems abit extreme.

Darvo secretly goes to the Gym everyday.

A bit off topic, but posting anyways

You know when Broberon got that buff in 14.5? DERebbeca said something about someone saying Broberon has been seen going to the gym, but never said who it was. Welp, time to theorize ;P

Darvo seems more like the puppet master type than a straight out pirate but considering he had the stalker hunting him and lived long enough to bait him into a trap I would say that he definitely does know how to handle himself quite well.

Well, the only other person I've ever heard on the radio other than the generic grineer trooper is Vay Hek. As far as I know, Vor doesn't transmit on the radio. And in the transmission you're talking about, it's doesn't sound like Hek, or Vor, or any other prominent Grineer bosses that I can think of.

Plus, Darvo did basically give Bek the middle finger and went off to do what he thought was right. I mean, Darvo doesn't like how some of the board members were doing business with the grineer and he didn't want any part in it. And based on the way Alad V was handled by the board, it doesn't seem like they are above dis-owning anyone, albeit family or not, for not following along in the "best intrests" of the corpus as a whole.

^Pretty much this. Well put.

However, he seems very reluctant to use his connections and you could question if he even has any left at this point.

I could totally imagine Darvo to be a suave and smooth talker that can bring the heat when it needs to be brought. "Aggressive Negotations" are fairly common in the Warframe universe, to be certain. Who's to say Darvo doesn't carry around a pimped out laser pistol, or some kind of Orokin-tech-hybrid weapon like Vor?

I could also imagine him to be the guy who would be describing a gun to someone, and then demonstarting it, by shooting a few people... Then apologizing...

And all the while, he still wouldn't tell the Grineer what the little red button on the side of the Braton does.

Darvo strike me as a bit of a sociopat, and at the same time he seem lonely.

If nothing else he proved Corpus is not an all-inclusive entity. He actually call Corpus "They", not us.

There are two Tenno fanboys. The diff is Derf is a fighter, Darvo a scheemer.

He's definitely not the type to START a fight, but as Sam pointed out: anyone with the kind of relations he has would be a FOOL not to learn how to defend themselves - and in this universe, the classic galaxy-in-turmoil, it strikes me as self-defense could very often lead to someone's death.
