Lost Weapon Affinity After Mission Fail

I went into and failed the defense mission on Lua (Earth) and the bonus affinity would have caused my Braton to reach rank 20.  Instead it gave me the achievement, then dropped the affinity back to the beginning of rank 19, and also caused my recently leveled Skana to go back down from 20 to 19 as well (I had leveled it and gotten the achievement on the previous mission).

(edit) tried quitting and restarting game, but levels stayed at 19 for both weapons.

This happens when you lose connection to the internet, it's most likely a hiccup in your internet connection.

except I was posting from the same computer as I play from with the game still on...?   I could see it as loosing connection to the server, but I'd also quit and logged back on.
