It seamlessly converts damage into energy drain when you're practically dead. Everytime you get hit, it'll drain energy instead of dealing damage to health at the efficiency listed until you no longer have energy left to drain.

It is all explained in the wiki.

When you reach 2 HP left, QT activates. Instead of lose Health, you will lose Energy instead (as it was Health), with a certain amount of armor mitigation (the same of the Warframe it seems). Of course when you run out of Energy the effect stops and you will start to lose the last 2 HP left.

Rage + QT works in this way. When you're losing Health, Rage gives you Energy. But when you'll reach 2 HP left, Rage stops to work and QT activates.

So you will not receive Energy from Rage anymore.

does it still applies armor to the energy damage? i thought it drains energy as fast as shields (of course with 240% efficiency)

A quick thinking drains your energy pool as if it is health with 240% efficiency on rank 5.

If quick thinking had 100% efficiency, which it doesn't, a 300 energy bar would give you 300 extra health. With a rank 5 at 240% you just multiply 300 x 2.4 and get 720 health. It seems to me, from my experience, armor will also affect your energy pool the same way it effects your health pool.

Some warframes can give you at least 400+ energy with a flow, which can give you a boost to about 1000 extra health.
