The Art Design In This Game Is Fantastic

New player here. Decided to check Warframe out since Destiny isn't available on PC (standards, gotta have 'em) and was blown away by how incredible and unique this game looks. What struck me most was how much it reminded me of those old Metal Hurlant (Heavy Metal in the US) sci-fi / fantasy magazines from the 70's, especially the worlds and characters created by Jean "Mœbius" Giraud. The first time I entered a Grineer ship for a mission my eyes lit up and I couldn't wait to see what was around the next corner. There are so many tired cookie cutter sci fi shooters out there these days, but I think it's safe to say that Warframe is an absolute standout for it's visual presentation as well as it's gameplay. Devs and designers, I stand and salute you on a job well done!

Digital Extremes and Warframe have, in my opinion, the best Art and Design team in the industry. It looks so pretty, and on top of that the designs are original. Originality alone is near impossible to achieve in most modern games, especially of the Sci-Fi genre.

Well I think they are one of the best but deciding who is the best is hard considering the developers behind Bioshock are very very talented. (I think DE worked on the first one too, not sure) however for a relatively independent company they are very good at what they do.

I just hope that they are less afraid of bringing what made UT GOTY literally the game of the year back then into Warframe.

While the atmosphere may never change, they do show their age comparatively to newer tile sets, which blow them out of the water.  DE recently added a new tile to the Corpus ship tileset, and the difference is night and day walking into it.  They've just gotten so much better in regards to the feel of Corpus and Grineer architecture that the ships and outpost/asteroid feel plain and simple by comparison.

But otherwise, for art direction as a whole, DE definitely found something special.

Design is good, but I can't say is the best. It's not 100% original either, designers said that they were inspired by Evangelion, Guyver, Metal Gear, etc.

When we say original, we mean they arent copying a bunch of popular crap from other games and making it their own. They actually make ALOT of our weapons with original functionality in mind. The warframes themselves are an original idea nobody has implemented in gaming, they were inspired by experimental exo-suits from the world wars. If you really dont see alot of orignality in the devs then im sorry to hear that bro

No, they're pretty clearly based primarily on Bio Booster Armor Guyver. The concept and the origin of the Guyvers is even very similar:

With that said, WF draws a lot from old scifi shows, comics, anime, and manga. What it does well is mesh its influences into a unique aesthetic that makes it stand out compared to its F2P contemporaries.
