Viral Damage Ignores Armor? No?

Question

We all know that radiation is the best element against alloy and we all know corrosive is best against ferrite. But I was thinking if Viral damage is also good on grineer regardless of their armor type and I wonder if viral damages REALLY ignores armor. So does it really ignore armor?

No. It helps damage against humanoid flesh targets (Corpus and Grineer humans), but if this viral damage does not inflict the viral status, it's just a different kind of damage that in total, works similarly to other kinds. If that were the case, I'd see infinite Phage streams in T4S.

First of all, why would it? I mean where is it stated that it does?

It's certain that it does 75% more damage against clonned flesh in case of no armor. And obviously this damage value is modified by armor of the target. Status effect decreases max HP on 50 % and that's all.

Phage you say?

Mod it for Corrosive and Blast with the events elemental mods (use Blaze or Scattering Inferno at your discretion), you should get around 70-78% proc per sec, then add the punch through mod.

Corrosive dmg is good with armour, status proc reduce armour, viral dmg is not good until there is armour but the status proc still reduce max health in half (think about this as your dmg x2), and blast is just for cc and ancients.

Bring a mag for the shields.

If you can run 4 Corro pro then switch to Viral + Radiation.

viral proc ... its only useful with infested or more expierenced teams running 4x corrosive projections

Wait, what? It has 50% less eficiency vs Invested targets. How is it efficient?

Why even have Rad dmg if you have no armored targets?

viral proc does nothing if the unit in question has armour

Pls provide relevant proof information as I could not have verified that ingame neither found any evidence on wiki.

As people have said, Viral does not ignore armor. However, if fleshy non-Infested enemies (Grineer, Crewmen) have no armor or shields left, it does a lot of bonus damage. Even with armor mitigating some of it, it's still a noticeable bonus, although Radiation/Corrosive will do more as they have bonuses against the armor directly.

The only damage type to ignore armor is Finishing damage, which is detailed here. http://warframe.wikia.com/wiki/Damage_2.0/Finishing_Damage

Viral procs work normally regardless of enemy armor. Their health still gets cut in half. Also, the damage reduction to certain Infestation can cause some problems, so it might not be considered particularly "useful" against them by some.

The Viral status proc will ignore armor, but the damage itself will not.

For procs, perhaps? Radiation and Viral have some good proc effects. Or just for the sake of adding more damage (plus status chance if using the event dual-stat mods).

Status proc chance from elemental event mods.
