Misery Loves Company...

I'm trying to clear out Eris. Both to keep the zones available for me for alerts, and to hopefully get some neurodes to craft some arcane helmet blueprints I still have and am trying to sell. I pop on into the one remaining corpus area there for the Interception mission. All is going swimingly, I'm dominating. Then... Zanuka Hunter shows up. First time I've ever seen him. I didn't get any death message (though I did farm Alad V for Valkyr components 3 days ago). But turns out he's not so hard. I take him down and claim my Detron Component.

But it was not a minor distraction. The only zone I still controlled was the one in the middle where I fought him, and I lost a lot of ground. I tried to recover, but I wasn't doing well, being about 70 to 50. And I was losing fast. Then it occured to me, when I had only 2% lead, that I only needed to keep things even, to win. I've done this in previous interceptions when things aren't going well, but apparently Zanuka Hunter was enough of a distraction to make me forget.

Two zones were right next to each other, and I could watch them fairly easily. I just needed to make sure not to lose either at all. Unfortunately, the idea to just monitor two came too late. One more loss, and I lost the lead, and had no chance of making it up. I lost my Detron part.

Whats worst, was that the zone had lots of players in it. I decided to try to solo it, mostly just to see if I could. I was only doing it to just get the area marked as completed, after all. If I had waited a few more minutes, I could have kept the part easy, and gotten it for a few other people. But I didn't even know I was marked.

In retrospect, I was still in the first round of the mission. I could have sent out invites like crazy to any random schlub I could find. But that only occurred to me while typing this message.

So, anyone else care to share their tales of misfortune, RNG screw, or foolish decisions? Grab a beer and share a story where fate, or just your own plain foolishness, had it out for you.

Soloing Interception has always been a very risky venture since it was introduced, so I can't feel too bad for you.

As far as my bad luck goes, 90% of my Stalker encounters are when I'm completely unprepared for him with freshly build/forma'd weapons and no backup (Less affinity), and the times I do manage to kill him he drops Dread BP.

This, this, this. Spent an entire night fighting bosses and trying to farm Stalker with friends and despite spamming one person with threats, nothing.

Next night I'm soloing an exterminate on Earth with a low-level frame looking for Kubrow eggs and he shows up to rip me a new A******.

I had decided to try my hand at a helmet alert, fairly easy I thought. And my kubrow agreed, we had mauld corpus before, off we go and about halfway in.

The screen goes wierd, me and my kubrow is knee deep in corpus. So this screen weirdness isn't helping, then I hear the whisper and a light flicker.

Oh dear it's the stalker, not only does he play with light switch now he warps space. We quickly clear away the corpus and prep for the meeting with mr cheery, and just as he shows up. So does a stompy moa and his friend the fusion moa, they team up with stalker and both me and kubrow are dead.

After that my mojo had gone, I made stupid mistakes and my kubrow just lost it's will to live.

No helmet for me

I was doing an exterminate on Saturn when the stalker shows up. Because I was leveling Excalibur and the drakgoon at the time, I also got ripped a new A$$****. After I finished the mission feeling slightly pissed, I make the amazing decision to go do another Saturn mission. Guess what? Yep G3 shows up and I get ripped another A$$****. So then I give up and go get my equipment for farming oxium to build the bolt remover. What a demoralizing night that was.

I think the Stalker thing happens often enough to believe it's not a matter of luck... I'm pretty sure there's something in the code that actually increases the chances of him appearing when you're alone and when your conclave is low.

Fortunately, I've been pretty lucky thus far... except the fact that the last five G3 encounters I've wrecked them and still they haven't dropped a single part, and that the last six or seven Stalker encounters he either found me alone and one-shot me, or dropped no BPs at all.

I was in a mercury mission (I think?) when the G3 showed up. Fortunately I had invisible Loki and they dropped a brakk bp. That was only my second encounter with them. Good luck. As least it is easier then farming for Hydroid.

Well, it was risky, but not a big risk. With no known death mark, the worst that I thought could have happened was that I lost and wasted a few minutes, as I wasn't trying to make it past the first round. In which case I would have had my fun, restarted the mission and waited to get matched up with a team. It was the Zanuka appearance, and my following forgetfulness (no in-match invites, and bad strategy) that resulted in the high price I paid.

Stalker isn't too bad even with lower level frames. He doesn't have his hitscan Braton Vandal anymore, so with some luck and skill, with your lower conclave level, he can be downed.

I on the other hand, got into the same situation with G3. On a low level Vauban. Ugh.

35 T2 Capture keys, 14 T3 Exterminate keys, 38 T1 Defense keys, 20 T2 Exterminate keys... 0 T3 Mobile Defense keys, 0 (insert key that I need to farm prime part I'm looking for here) keys. Something like that. What is my life? T-T

And to top it off, either nobody is running the missions I'm looking for and/or I have no luck finding people willing to trade keys D'X
