Please Provide More Information Regarding The Warframe Slot Changes

As a player who has extensively used forma on my Warframe i would like to request more information regarding the Changes with the Warframe Abilities and slots.

 

The following are the requested information:

1) Which slots will be taken away

2) How much time do we have to formulate and test new builds? (aka when will the change happen?)

 

Reasons:

1) We invested a lot of time and/or plat on my builds (both for me)

     - Forma

     - Plat for forma

     - Plat for Boosters

     - Time spent on investing in ranking up frames after the forma is applied

2) 8 slot builds will differ from 10 slot builds

     - Warframe roles/use will change

     - Mod compositions will change

 

I'm okay with the compensation they aready have in place i just would like more information so i can plan accordingly.

 

I hope this helps others who share the same concerns.

I too am concerned, while builds with 2 abilities break even and 3/4 benefit, any 1 ability builds lose us a mod slot. On top of that this can potentially spiral into needing to reforma as we have to find a less important mod to scrap on that build to fit on one that is more important that may get removed by the slot reduction. Potentially this means some re-formaing if any builds do actually suffer from that.

 

More clarity would be great, though I don't quite understand why they don't just give us all 10. Ofcourse I suspect its because they dont want to give us too many mod slots because we would be able to fully stack our warframes but if the idea is that they're introducing the so called "augments" we'll probably need new slots to fit them into anyway, alot of builds are already full on space.

Why SHOULD they give us 10, it's not like we are short on space atm. We just made extensive 1 ability builds because we could and to min max. Not because they were necessary.

 

And you are right, we are probably retaining 2 slots due to the augments that are coming which will have their own effects on our abilities. Which also possible opens up new builds for them.

I agree 10 is too much, I'm more just speaking theoretically. As it stands warframes suffer from the standard loadout issue a bit less so than weapons but it still exists. At the end of the day though if we want more variety in the builds we need to see either some way to trim down the mods used like the suggestions about making shields/health fully rank based and remove redirection/vitality or more slots.

 

In the current state of the game 10 slots is too much, the point still stands however that some builds will get cut back by dropping it to 8 and we have more specialised mods coming in the future. Perhaps not on release but eventually I suspect we'll have atleast 1 ability specialisation for each warframe for the relevant syndicate, if not eventually 1 for each ability. That space is going to get used up fast, unless potentially we stick with 8 slots and have a separate augment slot similar to aura (without capacity buff) allowing you to specialise particularly well for that one ability while the others remain usable.

I'm wondering the same, what were they thinking eh?. It's like samsung, like allowing customization, but now it's apple! I want an answer from DE Stuffs What about my time and my booster that I've invested on warframe?. I suspect this change is from the shareholders!

It's coming in update 15, you are losing two mod solts, which two? probably one the ends where your abilities are/were though it would be nice to see which two slots they are taking so I can move polarizations around before the update goes live. Roles and use don't really change as a player can still cater from all to one of their abilities. Compostions only change slighty because of the second mod slot taken out.

 

Example: If you catered to only one ability that ability and the mod slot above would be taken out, so you would only need to decied wether or not you really need that mod above your ability.

As for plat there is no need to reimburse people as formas are well know to be free and boosters directly apply to your Warframe not to slots. It would also be very difficult to distinguish people who have bought a booster specificaly because of polarization or just to level their frame. People are still liable for their own lose in a game. Since this is beta the game changes regulary and DE has given players fair warning about the lose of money due to updates.

 

No one can reimburse the time anyone choses to spend on this or any other game. All of us chose to spend our time on this game, the only part DE is responsible for is making such a great game to keep us here this long.

You can't expect DE to just remove the far right ability slots, many people move around their polarities around after polarizing.

 

DE needs to simply remove all ability polarities and keep all the other polarities, even if those polarities need to be moved around. This would end all the discussion about needing to be refunded forma or legendary forma. 

 

If DE seriously thinks vets wanna go thru and reforma all their warframes, they are sadly mistaken.

Ye, I'm gonna have to try and swap around as many relevant polarities as possible into the center slots to try and minimize the amount of reformaing I may have to do. Even if it makes the build less organised it should save time, can just swap them back after the change hits to be safe.

They stated that they will refund the Forma on the slots that we loose, and thats just what they stated they'll do. People suggested allowing the change of polarities on formaed Warframes without resetting them / Legendary Forma. If DE doesn't do this, they risk a huge S#&$storm.

The "special" Forma idea sounds nice. If you only get a normal Forma, you have to polarize a slot and start from rank 0 again, which would definitely suck.

Legendary Forma has it's allure but if i get unusable polarities i still would have to forma and then grind... so i would still rather know which slots they will remove.

 

Yes i'll swap the polarities i do not need into those slots. I think it's fair given that i worked hard to to get the frame up to my standards and the least they could do is help me out.

 

It isn't a game breaking compromise.

 

PS

And no it's not fun to grind back to rank thirty after each forma. That's why most people use boosters. At least i did. >_<

This is the only question I'd like an answer to, at the moment.

 

I hope it's something like this:

a. 2 skill polarity slots get removed, regardless where they are located. Remaining skill polarity slots get their polarity cleared.

b. If there are no skill polarity slots, the 2 last slots* get removed.

c. If there is only one, then it will be removed along side with the last slot.

 

 

 

*last slots: number 09 and 10 or it could be number 05 and 10. But this should be clearly stated, off course.

i almost always forma out 2 ability slots, on my booben even 3. this would make sense (i'd say ONLY this, but that is just my opinion)

 

if all 4 ability slots are present:

remove 2, and clear the polarity of the other 2

if only 3:

remove 2, and clear the polarity of the 3rd

if only 2:

remove those 2 slots

on 1 ability builds:

remove that ability slot, and an unpolarized slot

no ability builds:

remove 2 unpolarized slots

 

now the question is, what happens, when there are no unpolarized slots? one of my friends has a 8 forma 2 ability Valkyr build (no, he doesn't need that, but did it for fun)

Just keep the 10 slots (11 with aura), remove the ability card, don't give forma and let players use that 10th slot for something else.

 

By 10th slot i mean that there are some ppl who only use 1 ability, as things are now you will lose the ability and a polarized slot, DE will give you forma and you will need to think where to place redirection for example, what mod will you sacrifice for that usefull mod?

 

By just keeping the 10 slots, you make the transaction to U15 easier, no need to calculate who gets forma and how many forma is needed, there isn't the need for players to mass grind everything again knowing they will be weaker than before (forma usually means a grind sacrifice to get stronger, not weaker), players will be able to do the new content maxed out and if they eventually want to get stronger, they can polarize that single slot and place an extra mod.

 

I am still hoping DE sees that 10 slots is easier, faster, less grindy and possibly more fun to players.

 

I know DE likes to reinvent the weel, but there are limits.

i think you assume that a working ten slot build minus 2 slot is going to be a working 8 slot build... i don't think so.

 

My trinity for example has 4 Ds. If this slot thing happens i might want to remove 1 or two Ds depending on that build i come up with.

 

Removing unpolarized slots won't always be a good idea. Those were unpolarized for a reason. for me it's flexibility.

 

No no to blind slot removal. I need info.

one thought... if they're doing special forma might as well ust reset the frames with forma to the state with no forma rank 30 and give us a legendary forma for each forma we used. then they can remove any two slots.

 

Sounds easy to implement but might break the game for a couple of weeks... or months.

It appears to be that the Ability slots on the right will be taken away and the Ability polarties on the left will be de-polarized. So if you formaed those slots, you should get 1 or 2 Forma back.

In the Devstream I believe Steve said that the polarization of two Ability slots will be removed. For the two slots being completely removed, possibly the other two Ability slots are the ones being removed.

 i meant how'd you know which ones will be removed.

All he said was that two ability slots would be removed. Nothing else beyond that.
