Syndicate Screen Can't Be Navigated With A Gamepad And Often Locks Up

There is no way to navigate between the different Syndicate screens with a controller it seems. And after pressing a key for Initiation (once I get into one of the syndicate screens) the Accept button does not respond.

 

Also the syndicate screen randomly locks up if I press any button on my controller

So far this has only happened when I am using Steam's Big Picture mode and put my password in using the flowerwheel at login. (this provides the 360 button prompts, where as logging in with a keyboard provides keyboard prompts)

The only 2 ways I've found out of the lock up is to either enter the clan dojo via the menu (which comes up under the syndicate screen when it locks up) or quit the game.
