RealDeathcrow
I could probably make individual threads for each of these, but whatever, here I go: First off, I'd like to say that I'm quite enjoying my time with Warframe, but nonetheless there are a lot of things that need serious improvement: 1. Maps: It feels like there are only ~30 setpieces (it's probably more, but thats what it feels like) that are glued together when creating a map. This game is in serious need of different "tilesets" and more organic levels. There's nothing wrong with a more traditional approach to maps (think oldshool corridor shooters), but a game like this needs clever level design and not just interchangeable setpieces. If it weren't for the markers on the minimap, I'd be horribly lost (which I experienced quite a lot thanks to the 'stuck minimap' bug). Variety is almost non-existant and in its current state the game feels like running through the first level 5000 times. There's never anything new, fresh or interesting to explore. 2. Enemies: Same thing. Very little variety or uniqueness. X varieties of robot Moas - albeit somewhat funny - are stupid.. 3. Warframes: Maybe I'm the only one, but I have huge difficulty differentiating the multiple Warframes that exist in the game. This situation gets intensified by the game not giving me any clue which classes my squadmates might be playing.b Maybe it would be helpful to teach this in loading screens (showing different Warframes with a big picture and their name)? When pressing "z" the warframe of each player should be noted somewhere. 4. Bossfights: Most bosses seem really solid conceptually. It appears a bit ridiculous that the melee guy with the sword (don't remember his name) can be so easily avoided by just jumping on a crate. Also the bosses should all have custom boss-rooms, like the first one on Venus. Just dumping them in there seems not only lazy, but incredibly uninteresting. 5. Hosting: I understand that a game like this needs player based game session hosting. But please test players connections before-hand or - if that isn't possible - at least prevent them from hosting after it turns out that they have a 56k modem (if everybody lags behind in every game they host it should be a good indication). 6. UI: This really needs much better structure and a completely overhauled inventory. Allow me to sort my mods by "only blue/green", "item age" or "category". The whole UI feels really static and should be modernized: Get some outside help if necessary, because honestly the whole UI pretty much sucks. Dump it now and redesign it from scratch while you still have the chance to do that. If you want players to get sucked into your game, the UI needs to be intuitive and smart; alleviating the pain that is item management. 7. Social: Is there a chat - besides squad chat? If no, why isn't there? If yes, why isn't it in a obvious place, because I haven't found it (see 5.). There should be a chatroom for every planet so players can get to know each other and coordinate their efforts on planets with few players at once. Also a General chat and player created chatrooms seem pretty rudimentary. I propably forgot some stuff, but these seem to be the most important issues that I could think about right now. Things that are good: Animations, graphics, gunplay, gameplay-mechanics, weapons, weapon-variety, progression... you already know about it ;)
svnhddbst
agree with everything you said. you were more direct than i would have been and i think that, in game design with this much competition, that directness is in dire need. hope the mods read this. So they will be adding stuff, I mean look at the game files it only like half a gigabyte. But other then that yeah I can get what you're saying and I agree on most parts. RealDeathcrow
You do realize it got into Closed Beta like what a month ago? So they will be adding stuff Sure... I guess most of what I said was pretty obvious... Just wanted to do my part as a Beta tester. Too many people just wanna play a free game without giving any kind of feedback
