(PSN)Hiero_Glyph
To be fair, end-grind seems a more appropriate term for Syndicates given the length of time they will take to master. Syndicates are the worst type of grindwall; one that doesn't even let you buy anything if you want to rank up efficiently. It's all work and no reward. Phatose
If rewards were not purchased with reputation I would have no problem with resetting on rank up. If you did not reset completely on rank up I would not mind purchasing with rep. However the current system does both. This means that ranking up only UNLOCKS new items, which you won't buy if you want to achieve the next rank in a timely manner. This basically makes syndicates provide effectively no benefit until you reach the max rank, which is unfortunately locked behind costs most players are very reluctant to pay (reactors/catalysts). To top it off, there is nothing except the daily missions to ease the reputation grind as you progress in the ranks. Until something changes syndicates will effectively be useless to the majority of players (but half the mods aren't worth it anyways). I'm going to say you're flat-out dead wrong. Even to players who have next to no interest in syndicates and all, it's actually a pretty big net gain. Realistically you can do this: Make a small donation to 2 syndicates for rank 1 in each. Paint a sigil on your frame, and then just go do whatever you want to do. Hit 5000 in each, make a larger donation to each, go back to what you're doing. And every time your rep in either reaches 5k, trade it in for a pack of 5 T4 keys which you don't have to farm. You don't have to change your behavior, or do certain missions, or anything other then literally paint a shape on your frame and then just go about your business and get free keys. Given how long getting 1 particular T4 key can take, 5 of them for free for doing nothing other then painting on a shape and going about your business is pretty damn nice, IMO. Phatose
And for endgame players who have no business left to do this is helpful because? It's not. Despite what DE may claim, this isn't an endgame system, as you yourself correctly noted.
TankHunter678
When DE talked about rep in the previous livestream they called purchases with that rep "calling in favors". You are not "calling in favors" when you go up a rank in a syndicate. Rather going up a rank in a syndicate should be them rewarding you for your dedication, loyalty, and going above and beyond the call of duty. Hell, you should not even have to give them offerings to go up in rank. You should be able to give them offerings which increases your rep because you are going above and beyond the call of duty in your support of the syndicate. traybong111
Either 1) reset the rep when ranking up but have the items (locked behind ranks) purchasable through credits or something that isn't reputation, or 2) use reputation as currency to purchase items but don't reset it in order to reach a new rank. In option #2 I'd also prefer if one could earn double the required reputation if one chooses to delay the sacrifice and rank-up. Having reputation decrease for both purchase and rank up seems a bit too much.
