It's a balance between the Lanka and the Paris Prime, but with a larger charge time than the two. It's more of a step toward fixing power creep by adding a unique weapon that can prove to be useful.

not really, you need to charge the weapon and the charge can't be effected by Speed Trigger like Paris P, the charge at least takes a second for it to actually shoot, than another second to cooldown before you can actually shoot

Edit: It's useful for single targeting but it'll be flat out useless when tons of mobs are coming. You shoot one yay but there's still 6 left and they proceed to all out kill you

The whole game is power creep so complaining about is kinda meh... DE makes money with it and will release more power creep weapons and mods.

speed trigger and fire rate mods do affect the charge time also from you comment i can tell you haven't used this weapon shread can make this weapon punch though multiple mob also it has a aoe effect if it hits that lets it deal with multiple mobs easily it can also use firestorm to help with that to a better degree

Fire rate mods does affect the Opticor, hence Shred+Trigger unlocking its true nature.

Did you even use it? Its not useless when there are crowds of enemies. Its effect is the same as any bow, It will do dmg on mobs as efficiently as any bow

yes this weapon can hit dmg equal to a red crit from the paris prime when moded right

my opticor did 145k crit damage with this build - (all max) serration + split chamber + firestorm -- vile precision + shred + speed trigger -- infected clip + storm bringer

 

tested in t4 def

 

insane idk how it reaches that high tho. 20k + is normal

Paris Prime crits on every shot. Its "base damage" is, effectively, 880 on body shots and 3520 on head shots with a chance of doing twice that on red crits  You have to spend two mods to get the crits, but then, it also charges twice as fast as the Opticor and has built in punchthrough. Opticor can theoretically hit harder, but with only 15% crit chance it's unreliable and the head-exploding 100K crits are nothing more than lulz. Opticor does AOE, but it's weaksauce AOE and doesn't compete with the Ogris or Penta.

 

Opticor doesn't reliably do more single target (or linear punchthrough) damage than bows. Nor does it do more damage than the actual AOE weapons. It's not a "bad weapon" and will function up to reasonable enemy levels, but it is very definitely a mutant that is trying to fill two roles at once and doing a mediocre job at both.  The huge damage value looks super impressive but this thing is very slow, the incredible crits are unreliable, and the AOE damage is much less than an actual AOE weapon can do. This is NOT overpowered nor even really competing with the previous best-in-game.
