^This is how its supposed to look. Pay attention to the black parts.^

^Now this is what it looks like in the mission. Most black parts on my Limbo are grey, my Supra is completely metallic silvery. I dont like the way it looks, if i want grey i select grey on my smoke palette, if i want black, i want to keep it black. Same goes for some other weapons which i discovered lately.

Tiberon:

Amprex (which i personally think is the worst out of all):

To show you its not a problem with my machine, and how i want it to look like:

I noticed that right as you start choosing the colors you want, more light is introduced into the frame but it also depends on the angle you're looking it. It gets annoying moving the frame around to find the correct colors that will show up but your screen look way too dark in general before you choose the colors; as if there's a lot of shadows covering your loadout.

It is the blackest black possible, the same black i used for all the screenshots i took in this topic, the ones in the spoilers included. The differences between Limbo/Nyx and Amprex/Flux rifle are fundamental.

I have a similar problem since U15, though on my machine it does not look washed out. Rather than... some semi-transparent watery texture applied on top of it. Makes my weapons and stuff... like, glitter in the shadows. Edo armor and Miter looks just plainly awful... I was really sure the devs are aware of this stuff.

...or maybe I'm talking about something different after all.

Post by DE_Kary:

Note:  Only items that are new as of U15 have PBR materials, the others with a similar effect are old materials piggy backing on some of the tech that had to be developed for PBR.

For non-PBR materials it is the zone map mipped by the glossiness of the textures.  They need some more tweaks to the shine and gloss of the shaders and more importantly new (more representative) zone maps in the game.  Right now many of the rooms in the game have cube maps that don't feel connected to the space you're in, IE:  A blue Corpus room being reflected in a green Grineer space.  That can leave you feeling disconnected from the space and play hell on your tinting.  That is something both PBR and regular materials will be suffering from for awhile as we work back through all the rooms in the game.

The Blinn Phong materials (the older materials using zone maps) won't tint as well as the PBR materials, but over the next few months we will switch most of these to PBR and hope it'll be a fairly seamless experience.

tl;dr:  Work in progress :|.

So Limbo uses PBR and is heavily affected by the lighting in a tile as to what the colours look like on him, I would assume it will get better once the Dev's go back and update the lighting in the tiles and that would probably happen when the update the tiles with the new PBR stuff.

The Amprex and Tiberon changes are described in the post that I linked by DE_Kary.

This happens because of the new PBR textures DE is beginning to implement into the game. The textures are supposed to look more metallic than the current ones, which look more plastic-y.

I'll guess that the reason that some of the new pbr textures don't look right in-game is due to it still being new and not fully implemented across everything in the game. There are obvious kinks in the system that have to be worked out and a lot of lighting needs to be adjusted in multiple levels.

Its PBR, it is better than normal, didn't you know?

Seriously, yes some of it needs updating like the Amprex, but Limbo being a U15 addition, the PBR is "working as intended".

Shiny = good apparently...

@Egg_Chen: Since you replied on the other thread and therefore have read DE_Kary's postings, I don't understand those accusations. As Kary said, this is a very very very early stage in bringing PBR into the game, so many things will look off for a while. This will get better as more and more items, tiles and enemies are changed to PBR. They never said that the current state is better than the old one - but once they are done and everything is PBR, it will be.
