Venus Teserra Archwing First Quest Key Stuck Under Ice

A friend and I started doing the archwing quest, and in the first mission where you need to retrieve the void key to reverse and collapse the void portal, when we killed linx, the key dropped underneath the snowwy ground, below where we could reach the key. Just two meters below the snow, but two meters too much. Would provide screenshots but I have no idea how.
