PaxEthenica
First of all, to understand where I'm coming from, this: https://forums.warframe.com/index.php?/topic/333004-so-more-than-a-year-in-heres-some-feedback/#entry3741620 Second, I warn you now that this is an adult game rated for adults, and that some of the concepts I'm going to bring up will likewise touch on adult situations, and more importantly adult decision-making. I won't bring up anything gross, I promise. Obviously, I haven't stopped playing for a month, but a good, solid week was spent away, except for one day that annoyed me. Warframe, the game, isn't even lasting more than a HOUR anymore before it's annoying me. Every single time I visit the Foundry I am annoyed. Every. Single. Time. There isn't a single thing good to that I can say about the Foundry. It's slow, it's expensive, and it takes two of the most horrible things in gaming I've ever seen: Oxium and Argon. I've made posts declaring that I am pretty much boycotting Oxium and Argon. Limbo isn't going to be built, and I won't pay for Limbo, either. For my sense of self respect and dignity, I am actively reducing the amount of fun I can have with the game. To an idiot, this might seem counter-intuitive, to an absolute moron it might sound dramatic, but the thing is: this is a game. For the idiots - As a game, the prizes should be gotten through game play. Weapons and new warframes should be unlockable and craftable through game play. "And it is!" I'll read from someone's gibbering stupid in one or more of the replies. Yeah, it is, but it's un-fun and it's un-fun by design. That's right, the devs have decided to intentionally make some of their game elements annoy me. For the absolute morons - You see, Warframe is a FtP, which means that it lives or dies by money it can coerce out of its players. I use the word coerce, because that is what the process entails. You don't have to give the game any money, not really, to play it and have a good time... but if you don't, then by God, the game is going to scream and drag its feet and make the experience the least amount of fun it has to be. It's like a pushy guy who meets you after the club and constantly badgers you for sex. He's nice and a great dancer, and you've had a good time with him so far, but you really aren't that attracted to him, but he won't stop and you think you owe him something so you break down and go home with him anyway. That isn't consent - you don't really want to have sex with him, after all - but coercion; it's giving in to make the nagging stop. But Warframe never stops nagging, even after you give in. There's no relief. Every single time I look at the foundry, I am reminded that it would be so much easier to just give in. Every time I think about the grind for Oxium and the decay of Argon I am, again, reminded that it would be so much easier just to give in. All I have to do is just give in; why won't I give in? Isn't the game worth it? Don't I have fun with it? Didn't the game buy me a drink? Wasn't that boss battle fun? Didn't you like the rush? Why won't I buy something? Why did you play the game if you won't buy something? What's wrong with the game? Why did you dance with me? What's wrong with me? Please, just buy something! Buy something! How dare you waste my time! Buy something! No. The game hasn't done much to earn it, and if it has, then constant nagging has actually become a significant net negative in my desire to give in. Giving in should be a cathartic, uplifting experience, not something to make the nagging stop. Cosmetics, which I touched on in the linked post (I hope you read it), is a good example of the game doing something to actually earn my money. Why? It doesn't effect game play, and you can't use game play to get it. If I wanna be pretty, then I must give in. That is acceptable to me. Pre-made weapons with slots and taters? That is not acceptable to me. Weapons, archwings, Kubrows, Sentinels; all of that stuff is a NEGATIVE when there is also the Foundry, and Oxium and Argon constantly nagging at me. All of the things that actually have to do with playing the game, because they are a possible monetary stream, and because they exist behind the show that is the Foundry do not make me want to buy them. That isn't cool, and I REFUSE to eat that turd sandwich! Edited November 7, 2014 by (PS4)IIIDevoidIII Language

PaxEthenica
I would be overreacting if the game wasn't broken by design to extract my wealth.
CTanGod
Easy there. Every online game especially a F2P game (Warframe being a very good example of F2P) needs a degree of grind to both keep people interested and to give it life, simply playing for 10 minutes and getting everything in the game is not going to happen also the thing about paying is optional if you pay to get stuff in the game then you pretty much skipped gameplay however you should pay for stuff in the game only if you want to support it also for Christ's sake this game's only been around for 1 year and it pretty much let's you get every single item and play every single part of it's whole free of charge. God knows what some people like you would have said if you needed to pay a monthly fee.
vaugahn
I would be overreacting if the game wasn't broken by design to extract my wealth. Isn't every game (and everything) "broken by design to extract your wealth"? You may as well rail against advertisements, for presenting idealized versions of a game to trick you into buying it. The game is free. Unfortunately, that means microtransactions.
Shreiko
Oxium drops seem to have been stunted over the past few updates yeah but as for argon you cant even buy that from the market, you have to grind it. I see your point but I honestly dont think its as bad as you are painting it out to be. Clan tech is just as bad and Limbo quest wastes so much time in between crafting wait times and grinding for resources but it's what has to be done to coerce people into buying plat. BrotherIcarus
It's a problem with all free to play games and that is unlikely to change.
taiiat
you've said that in the past, and i'll state again the Oxium and Argon are the two best designed Resources in the game. one is a guaranteed Drop in small amounts (number of Oxpreys around is a different story), and the other is required in paltry amounts on items, encouraging short bursts of gameplay (with item reward Chance inconsistencies being a different story, as this applies from everything from Crafting Resources to Oxygen Drops). the Resources are designed well, it's small things in the background that make them unreliable and sometimes great, sometimes sketchy. and most of the 'fun' for the usual Player in Warframe comes from 'that grind'. without it, you don't have a game. just a #get simulator. that 'progress bar' is given there because spoiled first world Players can't have fun unless someone tells them how to for some reason. with 'nothing to do' and similar complaints being common without something to plunk away at endlessly. it's different than you explain. for the majority of Players, buying something with Platinum is easier, but since it skips parts of the game, is actually detrimental to their long term enjoyment of it. they run out of Carrots to chase faster, and then 'nothing to do' comes up. so it's detrimental to the Player himself to buy something with Platinum, he's better off buying Platinum to buy shiny hats or whatever Cosmetics or Et Cetera things that they can't get otherwise. because then everybody wins. (PSN)NearlyDedicated
I for one enjoy Warframe, and have only bought a minuscule amount of platinum (I received a Steam gift card, and had five dollars to spare...). I've been playing since it opened on steam (U6.5?), migrated my account to PS4, and have enjoyed the entire ride.
Kestral9999
You have a valid concern somewhere in there but you've disguised it too heavily with pissing and misdirected complaints to even discern it anymore. If you don't want to cough up some money or grind for some resources, and you find the game boring/inadequate/a ripoff, then don't play. We don't need more people around here questioning their own reasons for playing with irrefutable rhetoric and then passing it off to the rest of the community like it's going to "open their eyes" or some such drivel. (PSN)IIIDevoidIII
Locking this thread before it nosedives into absolute chaos. If you feel strongly about a certain aspect of the game, please make your feedback appropriate. This is extremeley inflammatory and inappropriate. Locking.
