Maglev Buff Idea

So I'm not sure how many people know this, but the mod Maglev is... pointless. I maxed one out and tried it myself, but a cost of 11 is not worth the tiny benefit it gives to your slide. In fact since it doesn't increase your speed that much your better off just using Rush.

So I gave it so thought, and have come up with an idea that would make the mod worth using. In addition to its current effect make it so sliding into an enemy does 15 magnetic damage per rank and has a proc rate equal to the damage.

So at max level I could slide into an enemy to do 90 Magnetic damage and have a 90% chance to proc magnetic. Which would be fun in PVE and very effective in PVP thus warranting in my opinion the cost of 11 and a mod slot.

I'd like to hear what you all think of my idea.

It's a great mod when your running around a huge dojo though with all your speed mods on.

I don't want to make a load out for my dojo... seems kinda like a waste.

Also it does up your speed pretty well when your constantly pressing Ctrl (or crouch) less then sliding once in a while.

The amount it gives a speed boost pales in comparison to Rush though, and using both Rush and Maglev is clearly excessive.

I'm not saying to mod is a bad; I'd just like to see it be made more useful. After all I only have 8 slots to put mods in so when I'm looking for a little extra speed Rush is going to win over Maglev every time, and that is a shame.

Maglev is already awesome, so buff it to your hearts content. Love that mod. Switched out Rush with Maglev a long time ago. That instantaneous boost is awesome for evasion.

On a second thought, I don't really like your suggestion . . . I don't know, I just seems silly to me that you should prefer to knee-kick the enemy instead of knee-capping them with your gun.

I often do melee only runs so, any sort of increased melee versatility would be a major improvement. No one would force you to do it if you don't want to though, so I don't really understand why you would object to my suggestion.

Clearly excessive??? You are not American are you... That is what we do.. Although I do agree that maglev could be made better.

I used to use both on my Ash (back when you equip abilities as mods and I can get away with using just 1 because the rest are rubbish) and I wouldn't really call it excessive. They're a helluva lot of fun. Maglev makes your feet slide from the floor when you do sudden turns making surfaces feel "slippery". That said, and despite my support in having it buffed, I don't feel making it do magnetic damage when you run into things would be *right*. Not without having it cause damage to your frame as well -- because Newton's third law.

Well i'm saying as for only one warframe like loki, but you only use your prime. So just put on your older loki. And use your useful loki prime an such.

Now that, good sir, is brilliant. I'm definitely gonna do that from now on.

I'm not sure, but I was under the assumption that sliding speed ( maglev) was the factor that affects slide jumps. I use it on my Rhino and trinity when i'm moving for "long" periods at once.

I slide once every 3~4 seconds, after comparing this (by feel, mind you) maglev does seem to benefit frames that cant get their sprint "up there" with rush alone. I'm all for rebalancing an buffs when necessary, but I think we should try and keep in mind that any individual may, or may not be using a mod properly.

Decreasing the cost for maglev to 9 would help a bit, I guess.

Random suggestion: have a slide/rush mod in the same fashion as vigor. +20 slide/ +20% sprint with a 5/10/15/20, and a drain cost of 11 or 12?

Perhaps the cost could be lower if you compare it to the element/status mods that cost 7 compared to the raw damage ones that go between 9~11 iirc.

Lastly: an Event mod set that incorporates movement as a theme. sprint/stamina, sprint/stam charge, sprint/slide, slide/stam charge or anything else of the sorts that could incorporate the effects of acrobat for wall runs?

Unrelated: Slides should become hella flashy like they are in Vanquish, because reasons.

MagLev should increase copter forward momentum, and Rush increase air attack forward momentum (but not damage).

Or both should add compounded bonuses to both forward momentum movements, which is better.

Maglev DOES increase coptering speed...

would also be cool if you could knock enemies down like a bowling ball hitting pins

That... would actually be pretty sweet. Dragon Kicking ragdolling enemies rather than performing basic knockdowns.

OT:

Stamina and movement mods as a whole need some buffs if the devs want them to be able to compete with Power-boosting mods. I think that a lot of them need to be slapped together.

e.g.

- Maglev is merged with Rush. Rush now improves walking speed as well.

- Marathon and Quick Rest are combined.

- Intruder is merged with Continuity.

- etc.
