Certain Tiles Are Highlighted In The Minimap. Why?

So I just ran a mission and noticed how one of the tiles has stronger border than others, also the color was slightly brighter and lighter. It will shine out from the rest tiles and I started wondering what is it all about? I had opened all lockers and broken all the containers and because the mission was exterminate the color turned pink-ish from the usual red when there were still enemies alive.

 

Does any body know what this is?

My guess is it has something to do with elevation. Tiles that are above or below you are lighter. Thus tiles with enemies are pink instead of red. That's the way I've always interpreted it and it's seemed fairly accurate.

It was the only tile this happened with and no matter what other tile I was in it was always lighter.
