[Weapon Suggestion] Tenno War Banner Bandon

So the Tenno are kind of like space ninjas when they aren't space samurai, and sort of have a Greco-Roman vibe going on with their melee and pistol weapon names, and people tend to thing of feudal banners when they think of samurai, so here's my suggestion: the Byzantine-named and samurai-inspired Bandon.

BANDON

Type: War Banner

Description: During the height of the Celestial Shogunate, great Tenno clans organized around BANDON, war staves affixed with holographic shield projectors that would display the heraldry of a particular clan. When overwhelmed, users of the BANDON can plant their flag to disperse enemies to regroup their forces or raise the banner to shield those behind them.

Base Damage: 45

Rate of Fire: 0.9

Accuracy: 100%

Base Charge Damage: 80 (2.3m AoE)

Base Charge Speed: 1.9s

Base Critical Chance: 10%

Base Critical Damage: 1.5x

Base Stagger Chance: 100%

Special Notes: The charge attack of BANDON is a dramatic ground-stab that staggers and knocks down surrounding enemies, but also immobilises the wielder for a number of seconds equal to the charge speed. The jumping attack functions similarly but deals less damage and doesn't have the immobilise period. This allows them to quickly clear away swarms but makes it necessary for them to be protected by allies.

The block of BANDON sees the wielder hold out the BANDON like a spear and project a defensive banner field that blocks a majority of shots (acting as partial cover) against enemies in a wider cone than normal bullet deflection.

When not in use, the BANDON floats against the spine and stands upright to highlight the clan banner, which would display their insignia set against a transluscent field formed out of selected the energy color.

The numbers I went with are mostly cribbed from Amphis with some tweaks. There's a sense that the BANDON isn't meant to really be used as a weapon in frontline combat so it's a bit clumsier than even the FRAGOR, but hits pretty hard regardless. Stylistically it'd probably follow the normal Tenno 'look' and be made of a material similar to Trinity's faceplate.

If you get Akbandons, you wear them on the back like a Winged Hussar's eponymous Wings, right?

DUAL BANDON

Type: Riding Wings

Description: Tenno cavalry and scouts made use of DUAL BANDON to stabilize their movements as they crossed long distances, and provided them with a valuable trump card in personal combat. Running charge attacks made with DUAL BANDON knock down enemies in front of the Tenno and stagger those on their flanks for hit-and-run attacks.

Base Damage: 25

Rate of Fire: 1.4

Accuracy: 100%

Base Charge Damage: 40 (.7m AoE at 1/4 damage.)

Base Charge Speed: 1.5s (1.1s while running.)

Base Critical Chance: 5%

Base Critical Damage: 1.5x

Base Stagger Chance: 10% (25% while running.)

Special Notes: When making a charge attack while running, the target directly in front of the user is knocked down while those immediately around them are staggered and receive 1/4 damage. Large enemies such as Grineer heavies are immune to ride-by staggering but can still be knocked down.

In the docked position, the DUAL BANDON sit in the lower back in a manner akin to wings. The animations used would be similar to those for dual dagger-type weapons.

A primarily defensive/support-oriented melee weapon is a pretty fantastic idea, honestly. I approve of it, it'd be more interesting than a dozen other melee weapon variants which are all slightly different ways of 'dealing a ton of damage'.

Interesting weapons like this are always a good thing in games.

See, that was an important thought with the DUAL BANDON. Much like the actual winged hussars, Tenno using the weapon would break crowds up for their friends to break up and cut down, and the weapon would /create/ a new playstyle instead of just adding options to an existing one.
