SnokyoDrift Posted April 25, 2013 Posted April 25, 2013 (edited) The Furis and Viper are two competing machine pistols that share many similarities. Furis: Base Damage 14.0 Base Firing Rate 10 Accuracy 15.4 Base Clip Size 35 Base Ammo Size 200 Viper: Base Damage 16.0 Base Firing Rate 14.4 Accuracy 15.4 Base Clip Size 14 Base Ammo Size 210 Difference in base damage: 14% Difference in RPM: 44% Difference in mag size: 150% Afuris: Base Damage 14.0 Base Firing Rate 20.0 Accuracy 8.7 Base Clip Size 70 Base Ammo Size 210 Twin Viper: Base Damage 16.0 Base Firing Rate 25.0 Accuracy 8.7 Base Clip Size 28 Base Ammo Size 210 Difference in base damage: 14% Difference in RPM: 25% Difference in mag size: 150% Relevant mods: Hornet strike: +20% damage /4 Gunslinger: +12% RPM /4 Slip magazine: +5% mag size /4 From these data, we can see that the mod difference of these guns are <1 Hornet Strike and 4(2) Gunslinger in favor of the Viper, and 30 (i.e. impossible) Slip Magazine in favor of the Furis. Realistically, it is extremely easy to create a set of mods for the Furis that allows it to equal the DPS of the Viper, while having 2.5x the magazine size. Using the same set of mods on the Viper is much less practical as the rate of fire here is already extremely high, rendering any additional bonus in RPM less efficient and beneficial in a real world setting. Going in the opposite direction is impossible as the magazine increase mod cannot make up for the enormous difference. Finally, I should touch on the price. The Furis can be bought for a cheap 12k credits, while the Viper has its own blueprint cost and construction cost that exceeds 30k. Both are relatively difficult to level due to a combination of shorter effective range and poor ammunition economy. In summary, the Furis is a much cheaper alternative to the Viper that can also reach '&!$$ing metal' speeds with a few mods, while maintaining a magazine that doesn't evaporate if you brush LMB. The Viper could use a small buff to keep it competitive against the Furis, whatever it may be. I think that an increase in reload speed would make these weapons a bit more different, with the Viper acting as a pseudo shotgun and the Furis remaining as the traditional machine pistol. A larger magazine would also help to a certain extent. Edited April 25, 2013 by Tryysaeder
Dasmir Posted April 25, 2013 Posted April 25, 2013 Well the Viper still a little better in ammo economy BUT that 70 magazine totally outdamage the viper.
Bitfly Posted April 25, 2013 Posted April 25, 2013 (edited) The only big difference is (A)Furis having a larger magazine vs. (Twin)Viper having high crit rate. They're both pretty awesome :) Edited April 25, 2013 by Bitfly
flaicher Posted April 25, 2013 Posted April 25, 2013 Is it just me or is Dual Viper more accurate than Furis (not afuris?. Haven't got Afuris or Viper to compare.
Zephon Posted April 25, 2013 Posted April 25, 2013 Is it just me or is Dual Viper more accurate than Furis (not afuris?. Haven't got Afuris or Viper to compare. ^ this. That's what made me choose Twin Vipers over Afuris. In addition i have the feel that the recoil on the Furis abd Afuris is much higher than on the Viper series.
RaivokasMagma Posted April 25, 2013 Posted April 25, 2013 Furis all the way. I don't need whole clip to kill one enemy and Furis is also damn accurate on longer ranges. And slower fire rate is nicer IMO.
