Why does it send you flying towards orbit with the average attack speed it has, even outperforming the Tipedo in terms of coptering?

 

Is it intended? Is it just madness? Has everything gone too far? Lets see...

Attack speed (as listed in stat) isn't actually attack speed.  What the stat shown is in actuality, just a modifier onto any given weapon's stance speed.

 

In simpler terms, think of your weapon's listed speed as a percentage of your weapon's true speed by weapon type/stance.  This is actually why apparent speed values were normalized to all be near 1.0.  In this instance a listed speed of 1.0 means that a weapon has 100% of the speed of its stance.  Currently we aren't able to see any of any stances actual speed as it's unlisted in any part of the UI so only through avid testing can you know what things are faster than others.  Comparing listed stats of Attack Speed is entirely irrelevant unless the weapons given are both of the same grip type, and both are equipped with the same exact stance.

 

Of course beyond that different weapon types also have different spin attacks.  These attacks all have different momentum values, which of course also play off of a weapon's true speed value.

So new the newest released weapon has to be a lot better than vanilla weapon?!
