Tactical Alert: Overtake

Recommended Posts

Wow DE, wow! This is a new low. Did you even tested THIS MESS?

It's like you took everything that is awful in escort missions, multiplied by four and just threw at us.

Impenetrable Nullifiers.

A ton of impenetrable Nullifiers

Escort Mission

Forcing melee only

Basically, you can get Nyx/Frost and AFK/Number3 the whole way or get wrecked in a cheapest way imaginable. It's not harder gameplay, it's frustration.

I'm sure the next alert will have us jump-kicking our way thru a map filled with Caustic Ancients after swimming thru a lake of gasoline.

For me, this was fun.  Three completions out of six tries, all pub, and we did the last one without our Nova because she was AFK when we hit the timer.  Two of those three failed tries were with groups that probably would have failed any other alert as well due to a lack of teamwork (leaving people stranded under the elevator, starting the vehicle before everyone was there, etc).

Nova was nice, Limbo and Loki really shined.  Frost globe > turbulence, but maybe that was just because my radius was wide enough to hit the nullifiers.  Also, having a shield drone helps.

I really enjoyed this alert because it was a good match to my playstyle.  I like that it rewards some diversity in your arsenal and gives something nice to the players that aren't so focused on efficiency and mastery/credits per hour (even if I did end up wasting a potato on a vanilla glaive).

There's always going to be some bar to entry for a tactical alert.  Maybe it'll be a conclave restriction.  Maybe you'll need a melee weapon, or an archwing, or a kubrow, or a flamethrower.  Or a team (and I say this as someone who almost exclusively solos).  But I'll take something like this over standing in a corner with a soma and firing until nothing is moving, lather, rinse, repeat any day.  Even if it means playing the game differently than I normally do for a couple of missions.

Thanks, was fun, would do again.

Frost, Nyx, Trinity and Vauban.

Nyx, Trin and Vauban on top of the rover, Frost running behind to clean up enemies. Nyx in front with Absorb going, Trin using EV and Blessing. Vauban just chilling. Frost drops bubbles behind the rover to slow enemies.

EZ mode both times.

I like the fact that it handicaps you. But then again, I use Glaive A LOT, so I have it maxxed.

Was it easy? No.

Was it fun? Yes.

Were public groups as stupid as ever? Of course they were. 'What do you MEAN I CANNOT BE CARRIED THROUGH THIS? THIS SUCKS!' *ragequit*

Or my FAVORITE...

'I am going to call the elevator when 3 o f the 4 are UNDER it so they get stuck and then start the rover. I am UBER! I can solo ANYTHING- *BAM* YOUR FAULT I FAILED!' *ragequit*

That one, the rover made it all the way BACK to the start and we failed. Never had that happen before. It wasn't even destroyed.

i feel like people dont like to or are not reading this.....

please stop saying use this frame and that frame....please stop using the whole get good crap....

i get that its great for veterans like myself because of the challenge....

but it is not cool that you push down all the lower ranked players, players who do not have plat to have an arsenal of weapons or frames, and players who do not have someone to carry them

in all honesty....it is a huge dent to playerbase morale....stop thinking about yourself....if you got the alert...and you finish it. then good for you.....help other people out....dont @(*()$ talk down to people and tell them to get better

i feel like we constantly lose quality players and keep increasing in number of %$#% aggressive, macho players in the game

This tenno gets it. Thank you!

I don't have a Frost,a Trinity, a Vauban,a Mag, a Zephyr or a Mesa.

My throwable weapon just got fresh.

I have the level of progress of someone who just unlocked that Europa node.

I am supposed to fully take advantage of a tactic based on...Throwing my melee.

What can I do?

(I have a Frost & a Zephyr.I have a Glaive & a Kestrel. I'm just trying to get tips for people who don't have these specific stuff! Isn't the only specific stuff supposed to be the melee weapon type?)

IMO that's not an enormous problem : I know that the stance will be obtainable afterwards(in a random way). That's just sad that a "tactical" mission involves nothing more than specific frames. Not specific use of throwable weapons like it was meant to be.

Zephyr Turbulence is  VERY good counter to almost anything on the map. Just don't THROW the Glaive, you WILL need it to block stuff.

I LOVED watching the Rhino Prime players flailing around trying to throw their Glaives, then go down in seconds while it was airborne and not hitting a thing. Fish out of water without their Boltor Primes.

It is mainly about the group though. This CANNOT be soloed so many people automatically hate it.

If the group knows what they are doing, it is easy. If they do not? If they go run off to get kills or hallway hero or whatever? Almost insta-fail. Enemies spawn RIGHT IN BACK of the rover. If you are not guarding it, it dies.

But Zephyr has a counter for ranged attacks. And her Tornado ability makes a NICE mess of the area.

I did it with Frost all the times I ran and had no trouble when the group had a clue.

Okay, we're beginning to see something here :

the part with the falling Rhino's prime is something good. You indeed can't act first & think after!

You're talking about having a team coordination. That's also very good.(The game is coop-focused,and solo players like me sometime got to join groups after all... :p )

Ouch! You're talking about bringing a Zephyr or a Frost... :/ What can a group with Oberon, Limbo,Hydroid & (let's say...) Ash do?

What can any group with any of the 20 frames & a good teamplay do?

I am not a big poster on the forums but just wanted to say TY DE for the new stance. I like this stance a lot more then gleaming talon and it was definitely much easier to acquire. I would not really want to run it again but like I said it was a much easier way to get a stance then some of the grind I have gone through for other ones.

For those having trouble I ran it with a group of random players. We did 4 runs, we ran it an extra time due to picking up a new player after our first run and stayed to get him his second run. The fist run was pretty easy and we failed the second run which went wrong after we had our energy drained. The other two runs were ok as well.

I can not remember the exact Warframes used but I was mag prime each successful run using pull and shield polarize. As another poster mentioned we also had a zephyr who stood on the top of the vehicle and used turbulence. there was a frost spamming snow globe for a run and we also had a Vauban, he tried to load up the truck with teslas but I think you would be better off using bastille. As for the guys with the shields we just ran up and took them out as quickly as we could while some players stayed on the truck.

ANY group CAN do it, IF they can coordinate.

You WILL go down. With shields so low and draining from the hijack, you WILL go down. My last group had me as Frost, Trinity, Nyx and Ash. The Ash ranged around, using Bladestorm a LOT. He had over 100 kills by the end. I stayed behind the Rover, the others on top of it.

I went down once and I told them not to revive me. I revived when the counter ran out and caught up easily.

The OBJECTIVE was to protect the rover. They did the job. That was a good group.

Trinity is pretty much mandatory for this. (or have maxxed revives and energy restores)

All others can work. Mag helps with Shield Polarize. Rhino with Stomp. Frost with Snow Globe. Mesa standing on top of the rover spamming her ult, OMFG MY SIDES! Limbo... where did the Rover go? Hydroid? GET THOSE NASTY HENTAI THINGS OUT OF THE WAY! I could go on for all the frames.

Teamwork wins this. Maybe it CAN be soloed, but I can't see that myself. You get a bad team, you fail. You get a good team, you succeed.

C'mon people It's not THAT hard. Use your brain, figure out a way to get past the nullifiers without just relying on weapon stats and brute force. Work as a team, you'll get through it easily.

I see a lot of people complaining about this tactical alert. But actually this alert requires only team work and good choice of warframes.

Me and my friend completed this alert in only 2 runs. We used Limbo,2 Mags and Nyx. Because Limbo's Banished on teammates won't be disabled by the null's shield so i banished my teammates and let them clear the nulls.

When we reached the Rover just all hop onto the rover,Nyx cast her Ultimate skill to protect the rover while Limbo keep banishing all of the team,2 mags just keep using Pull to cc the enemies (anti moas and the elite crewmen).Limbo can also cast cactaclysm to protect the rover from enemy's fire since he can now toggle it on and off anytime too.Hope you guys can overcome this fun alert.

Well Nyx the key of this alert...4 Nyx on the truck and spam Absorb.
Use shield regen before to get up the truck and have fun.

For me this alert is a condensate of everything that is wrong with WarGUNS right now. Unfair mechanics aplenty, enemies that fill 3 roles at the same time, a touch of broken scaling (so nothing unusual here actually), FORCED use of a specific weapon type (when it's not conclave limit, it's something just as bad...). BUT... Zero challenge. Zero fun. Zero "tactical" gameplay.

Fortunately, players have brains, and have already found many ways to do this "tactical" alert (once again, WHERE is the "tactical" part?) so easily it's boring as Hek, but mercifully short.

Give us challenge. Not this simulacrum. Challenge does NOT reside in the removal of gameplay elements and options from the players' hands. It only makes them frustrated, and they end up searching for every exploit/way to counter these cheap mechanics and lack of choices. Which often means "breaking" the game and the way it was meant to be played and enjoyed.

Keep in mind, that's just my opinion, and though how some players can find this alert "fun" or "challenging" is beyond me, I still respect their opinion, and it actually makes me question myself, and try to approach things in a different angle. No success so far unfotunately.^^'

"Throwing Weapons"

So does the Redeemer count?

Since the throwing category of weapons seems to be just hold the melee button and something happens, usually weapon is thrown, but what about the redeemer?

We needed 2 Runs to find a way to do it.

After that I made 4 succesfull runs.

Its fun and a bit challenging.

Difficulty is just right.

It needs Teamwork a good Strategie best with Teamviewer.

One last tip, Use Shild and Energy Regenerators ontop of the Tank.

You can stay there and reg Shilds and energy ( it moves with the tank )

Did three runs, each one was successful. First one we ended up with two Nyx (myself included xD) and the truck kept stop-starting but we still completed it. The next 2 times it was a breeze. Absorb all the things.

You know what I find to be the WORST part about this clearly rushed Tac Alert?

That dumb-as-heck forced requirement of a THROWING WEAPON. You know, the weapon class of which only FOUR exist in the game, and of that number, Glaives are not easily availiable to be built as the regular one is an alert-only BP and the Glaive Prime means grinding towers. Oh, and the Halikar? Two argon crystals, which ALSO is grinding towers.

Seriously, to anybody who doesn't have a throwing weapon already built and ready to be equiped, DE is forcing players to build the Kestrel. That is the only weapon in the game that anybody can be able to reliably get and still have time to actually do the stupid mission. Sure, you could grind Towers to get the Argon Crystals for the Halikar, but forcing players to play at minimum two towers simply to get something that isn't the Kestrel? Simply to play a bloody mission that's already too hard?

But wait, there's more! Because as I learned, you CAN'T go into this mission without a throwing weapon - as in you can't go in without any weapons period. I have the Kestrel cooking now because it's the only option I even have, but this is ridiculous that I can't have the option of going in without it now. Honestly, why can't I go in with a dagger or something? I don't have higher level frames like the obviously crucial Frost. My friends don't have Frost.

As it stands, I can already clearly tell the real story behind all this - Inevitable permanent addition of Corpus Hijack to balance that mode out because right now it's mostly still Grineer themed back on Ceres. But at the same time, this is only taking a terrible game mode and making it worse by forcing people to use the biggest joke of a weapon class in the game purely because getting all but one of them involve grinding unrelated to the Tac Alert.

And what does all that spell? NOT. FUN.

If you haven't gotten a bajillion glaive BPs from login rewards since you started in may,  you must have some of the worst (or best?) luck of anyone playing the game.  I've lost count on how many I've trashed.

Thrown melee bad? Then don't bother with the event, it's main purpose was clearly to release a thrown melee stance.

Also, Glaive prime is one of the best melee weapons in the game lol.  Slap on a power throw and it's essentially a slash damage rocket launcher that can get a melee damage buff from Loki's/Ashes invisibility.

Nyx is perfectly viable too.  And as noted, plenty of people have beaten the event without nyx or frost.
