Making Tonkor Work In Pvp

So, this gun is basically impossible to hit anything with because it's a tiny dot moving pretty slow in a game where people are coptering around quickly. It's way harder to hit than even the bow. In comparison to TF2 where people are moving around slower than Warframes, it is much smaller and slower than what the Demoman shoots from his Grenade Launcher.

It's the kind of weapon that only works if you have the really dumb AI in pve that barely move at all.

I'm not asking for this thing to be able to explode with a right click or something. That would be obviously too good.

A good viable option in PVP would be to make it explode when fired at. Including by the person who fired it. This would be good for PVP because we have the the 80% Holder Rate mods for Rifles and Pistols, which would let us switch between the two.

How it would work

1) Shoot a grenade in the general direction of your opponent, leading your shot if necessary
2) Switch to any pistol
3) Fire at it while still in motion
4) It explodes on opponent.

It could also have them work as pseudo-traps. The grenades sit on the floor for a few seconds once they stop bouncing, which can then be shot at while someone runs by. It's a very short window of time, so it's not nearly as toxic a mechanic as the Demoman's infamous sticky traps. Just extra utility.

You can have the damage reduced when this method is done if it's too efficient. But even with the holstering mods, it's pretty slow where I doubt it would be a problem.

Alternatively of the above idea, just increase the travel speed of it and increase the grenade size. Less work to implement.

Good luck with that.

Weapon switching takes way too long and is irresponsive AF (Like, really, there's like 1s delay before any swap animation happens, at least quick melee is pretty much instant).

Then you need to accommodate for both being shot at (and you are most likely going to die when swapping weapons) and then carefully aim and shoot at that tiny, glowing grenade (assuming your enemy is even remotely close to it).

 

A nice detail to have, for sure, but practically useless.

According to the UI it deals 5 damage.

Even if it was homing across the map and hit all the enemies all the time it's still would be crummy.

 

To be honest I'm relieved a grenade launcher is bad in PVP, I've seen enough penta and ogris users in PVP 1.0 to know how arbitrary those games are.

That 5 damage is probably for grenade impact. Explosions do much more damage, but not enough to kill Excalibur in one shot. Haven't tested it against Nyx, though. She might go down in one hit.
