Corvinna
One more thing: after 8.0 patch, you can trade materials, so if a beginner join a clan, his clan mates can trade materials for him!! THEN WHY WE ARE TALKING ABOUT DISADVANTAGE? Picture, if you will...a world where undergeared/modded players join your defense missions, unable to really contribute so you fail, and others that join clans, only to beg for materials to build a simple Burston...that sounds about where we are headed at this rate. KvotheTheArcane1
(Then you will wait more) ah so then I can assume you were lying to just try and prove me wrong, so your point about getting so many so fast is invalid. GG no proof of claims = claim IGNORED!
Corvinna
But at what rate? How much at a time? How will new players know which clan to join, etc. (Still waiting on that screenie) Just so you don't implode waiting or anything...its possible to do it in 2 hours if you have friends carry you on the missions and all you do is loot. If you actually play though the missions yourself with similarly geared players, it will take much longer. Not to mention the fact that, if they read the guides, the places it suggests are places where they wouldn't really be able to contribute without some mods and better weapons...so they either go, knowing they are going to be useless and hoping to get carried...or they stick it out solo and deal with frustration. Right, I'm assuming new players don't have pre-leveled friends moving them along at a nice fast pace. I assume they'll either join people of similar level, or random people of similar level. KvotheTheArcane1
It's not a fair world pal. Is it disadvantage? Yes a big one, one that stops players from playing the game. One that will kill the game eventually. The market change was a bad idea. Admit it. Why should someone have to farm for 1-2 hours for a "low teir" weapon AND wait 12hours for it? nkeyz
Because I love this game. I never bought platinum. I farm a lot, while I enjoyed playing this game. I farmed Nyx parts 30-40 times, before I got all. So am I disadvantaged? Edited May 18, 2013 by nkeyz

I farmed Nyx parts 30-40 times, before I got all parts. So am I disadvantaged? No, because you got in before the weapons required a HUGE amount of materials. New players or those reseting now are at a large disadvantage, it's hard for them to progress now.

RobotUnicornAttack
That's horrible ! We can't even buy the best weapons just after starting the game ! OMG ! Seriously ? In 50 hours, without farming, I have enough plates to craft all of these weapons. If you do it, it goes much faster. Someone who starts the game can't get any weapon snapping his fingers ? That's logic. He starts the game with basics weapons as many did. He'll be able to buy them after few hours, YES YOU CAN'T GET EVERYTHING WITHOUT PLAYING, that's the point. Everything was already to easy to get. (Except alerts). I like this patch. (And I still haven't paid a dollar to play.)

Corvinna
Right, I'm assuming new players don't have pre-leveled friends moving them along at a nice fast pace. I assume they'll either join people of similar level, or random people of similar level. Well, depends on the location. Venus is the first alloy plate area, but its also the worst. The best one from my experience is Ceres, which is much higher level. A new player could make it to Ceres if they just grouped the whole way but, I doubt by the time they got there they would be geared enough to be useful, let alone do it on their own. With the amount of crafting materials in this game, its beyond me why almost everything uses Rubedo and Alloy Plates. You'd think they could use some of the lower level materials for the mid range weapons, rather then the hardest one in the game to get. As it stands, if my friends do decide to play after this...mess...I'm just going to let them follow me around Ceres...I can bash my way through it, and they can get whatever they need to craft stuff...for the actual new players without anyone in this game already though...its not going to be fun. What I'm saying is that it takes a LONG amount of time for new players to get to try new weapons before crafting them. I've already stated that I think end game weapons should obviously be endgame still. New players get barely decent equipment, and the costs are too high. want to try 2 weapons that require alloy plates? be prepared for loooong amounts of grinding for 600+ alloy plates. edit: Well, depends on the location. Should they just toss down some cash and speed up the process? No, of course not. Edited May 18, 2013 by KvotheTheArcane1

Shion963
Funny, when I was a newbie the Burston was a total beast in my eyes. And when I got a Latron, my god I was happy with the "Tier 1" lowbie weapon. FYI I wasn't a smart credit farmer either, being the noob I was so please no "creds r ezy fuk off guy". 50k creds was a large sum for me back then,. I helped my bro farm Rhino parts, and guess what material I had in spadeds by the time he got his Rhino? Alloy plates.

So, I decided to waste some money for an experiment. Burston costs 300 alloy plates to build...for that many plates, you could build 2 warframes. For 200 more plates, you could just built a boltor and never need another weapon. For 80 plates, you could build a gram, or a fragor, or a scindo, or dual zoren...so why is a burston that hard to build? Heck, 1k will get you a couple helmets or weapons. I feel this forced farming for resources like this for BASIC weapons really blocks progression. edit: So, I decided to waste some money for an experiment. Snipetron is 50 alloy less than the boltor, but is generally considered a "meh" weapon, while the boltor is generally an amazing weapon. Only 2 weapons I use anymore are the Hek and Boltor...only use the Hek since shotgun multishot is the only one I have so far. I have...20 something weapons that I just don't use for various reasons, but I can't bring myself to sell them either, so they just sit in my inventory. I'd love to use the Paris, Snipetron, or Latron, if most people didn't just rush things. I like more precision weapons then rapid fire ones but...I only get to use them when I solo. I got lucky and have both hell's chamber and split chamber, but yeah, the weapons that ALWAYS stand out for me are the hek, boltor, and the braton once I got split chamber. Similarly all rifles got better imo once they got a 90% chance to fire a free shot...

So that what, 2273 + 3(80) + 2(150) + (300) + 3(350) + 2(500) = 5163 Alloy Plates. And I haven't ran any alloy plate planets for quite some time now. I'll need to actively run Jackal again to see how the drop rate is nowadays, though. epeens and petty squabbling aside, I think that DE could make this change viable if they altered the rarity level, or pickup amount of Alloy plates, considering how much it's needed now. I use to use the Paris 100% of the time...then rushing got more common Hear hear.
