SteamInferno Posted May 18, 2013 Posted May 18, 2013 Wait, people got bored of farming bosses? For every one person complaining about farming bosses, there are 10 who prefer it over the alert system. Hooray for falsified numbers, eh? That said, in my opinion I prefer the boss farming to the alert system. Sure, it's definitely not the best system, but it's better than the alert system, I think. Your problem with the alert system is it's inconsistency. You don't like having to be here a particular place and time to get something. Understandable, but that's what the alert is supposed to be. It's a special prize that you can get but only if you're on at a particular place and time. It entices the player to keep playing to get the chance to receive something from the table that they "want". As for unlocking the solar system. Typically players did this to get frames. However, due to the nature it is now, people just piggy back their way to the boss and unlock it from there. Fix this by only being able to join missions you have already unlocked. Wonder, how many people would be upset about that.. Pretty sure the devs have considered it, they're not stupid you know. The best advise for end-game content I can give you is to play with the mod system. Use those cores and rank up your mods to the point of being OP. 1. Gating core content like Warframes and Weapons as "special prizes" or something you buy is foolish. That's less "You can either work hard and get stuff in game or get it quickly by paying money" and more "Oh hey, you can get this if you pay me. You might be able to get it for free, too, but what's the chance of that?" in my mind. 2. Alerts don't "entice" me to keep playing. They "entice" me to go do something else actually fun and check the twitter every once in a while. 3. I've never skipped ahead. In fact, most of the stuff I've done solo. That's part of the problem: It's getting boring. It's the same old same old. 4. Mod system isn't end game content. It's freaking trading cards. Min/maxing is fun for some, but I honestly prefer just fun gameplay while striving for a goal. Tribes Ascend actually did this much better. Yeah, you had to grind like heck to get items, but that wasn't your end goal. The end goal was "win this game of CTF." That was (and is) insanely fun to me. Getting items wasn't what you were going in for. You were going in for half hour matches of intense gameplay. If you aimed for items it was could get infuriating. All this game has for goals are items and mods. Mods are completely random and require playing random missions over and over and over with extremely low drop chance for the rare ones you want. Items can be gotten by farming of materials (also boring) and alerts (completely pure chance with no player input, the alert missions themselves are insanely easy). I think that's the real problem. The gameplay itself doesn't pull you in. It's fun, but you go for items and mods. When you get tired of the random stuff you deal with then it's just a case of "meh".

The only statement I don't agree with here is when you say that the 10 would support the idea of alerts. I intended the 10 to be indifferent towards the acquisition of the new item. Everything else is spot on accurate. TheChaffeemancer: Not trying to argue who was belittling who. Butt-hurt is a term used to describe displeasure about a certain situation. You have stated your displeasure for the current topic, ergo you are butt-hurt about it. Edited May 18, 2013 by Hellscare
SteamInferno Posted May 18, 2013 Posted May 18, 2013 (edited) Uh, that's not the standard definition of "butt-hurt". It refers to someone getting a stick up their rear about something inconsequential. At least how I learned it. It's a "Aw, you disagree? You're being a baby for no reason" response. SHADOWEDzed Posted May 18, 2013 Author Posted May 18, 2013 Perhaps I have been misusing the term. Wouldn't be the first time I've made a mistake.
