Volt_Cruelerz
First off, I'd like to thank whoever made enemies fly backwards when hit by Absorb. Perhaps that's been around for a while, but I've only just noticed it and it does make it much more entertaining to use. Second, in my experience, Absorb used to aggro enemies. Perhaps it was just an illusion, but several patches ago when I tested it, it certainly seemed to whereas now it does not. If it used to but no longer does, that is a bug and should be fixed. Absorb is the potentially highest damage ability in the game. It is also the longest channel time of any ability and relies on enemies being around you to be useful. The following are my suggestions to change the ability for the better. 1. Increase Range. Right now, it's a very localized AoE, even with maxed Stretch, it's still a very short range nuke. For something so situational and that seems as if it ought to be much longer range. Personally, I'd suggest a 40% range buff 2. Aggro Addition/Changes. Idk if this means that there is actually no aggro or if it's just defective, but enemies should full-bore aggro you, not sometimes run away from you while firing at you until they lose LoS with you. Aggro is by far the most suggested addition to Absorb which either means that it's a feature that is sorely lacking, majorly defective, or is not obviously such. If there is actually aggro, perhaps a particle effect should be added to every aggro'd enemy so that players know it to be the case. 3. Adjust Cover Immunity. This isn't limited to Absorb but rather many other ults as well. Cover can often make enemies immune to your abilities even when you can see almost the entire model. Perhaps it would be wise to not just check for LoS to the position of the character model as a whole (or wherever the check actually is) but also for positions of extremities of the character (feet, muzzle, hands, head, etc). Maybe if at least two points are visible to the camera it should still deal damage or something? Idk... That might make it better or might make it worse.. Regardless, adjusting cover immunity really does need to happen with both this and several other abilities. Absorb is fully capable of wiping out groups of enemies because of its damage cap of 20k, but there are several things that keep it from getting to even a 20th of that power. Hopefully these changes should help somewhat. Edited May 18, 2013 by Volt_Cruelerz

KrAyZy
There are several posts suggesting similar changes to absorb. I agree with your suggestions as well. They need to add some time of taunt or aggro to it.
overdosed
Yep, there have been many threads about absorb, I even made one, but there still has been no word on improvements incoming for it. Its all nerfs and complaining how op something is, but only the minority of the community thinks about improving abilities, and the devs dont seem to do much in that direction aswell. Absorb is not the only skill in dire need of mending, but i guess nerfing is more important xD

Nerfs needed to happen and there are buffs that need to happen (when was the last time you used a damage-based [1]?). Absorb is probably in more need of a buff than any other ultimate in the game though.
fishworshipper
To be honest, if I was a soldier and something ran up, shot 3 of my buddies, flew into the air and created a ball around itself I would sure as hell start shooting that thing.
overdosed
when was the last time you used a damage-based [1]? Absorb is probably in more need of a buff than any other ultimate in the game though. Too true, and in my mind having 2 or 3 useless skills on a frame is MUCH worse than having 1 op skill. Almost all 1 skills are abysmally bad, and a relly high % of the 2s and 3s are also too situational or even useless. I even feel like most of the skills are placeholders. They made too many frames and couldnt think of cool skills for them, so they just slapped some stuff on them, just so that they have skills. I guess they should stop making new frames until they completely flesh out and polish the existing ones. Quantity is never better than quality. Lol, i guess i went too offtopic xD Edited May 22, 2013 by overdosed
Subhuman_Rat
Does absorb have a target limit? it might of been the whole in cover invincibility think but quite a few enemies are usually left alive after using absorb and it gets annoying because they can insta gib me after my ult stops. Also one think that should be added is that Nyx regens shields while using this, as while you take no damage the game registers it as damage and your shields do not regen :>

Volt_Cruelerz
I'd say it has to do with LoS, but that doesn't seem quite right... I'd really really like to know how they calculate what gets hit and what doesn't...
Mikaru_Y
I know it's a great idea to add aggro to it or if it was on it it needs fixed, but I think we're kinda missing something. You know that feeling when you use absorb to do a ton of damage, then all your teammates gather round you and kill everything? Yeah, it's irritating and you just wasted 100 energy to do nothing at all. Would it be possible to make it so aggro'd enemies can't be damaged, or all damage directed at them gets added to it instead so teammates just can't kill them instead because they either don't care or are clueless? I just never use absorb on the principle that if someone comes along, you KNOW they'll ruin it by killing everyone for you, and that just ignores the whole point of absorb. I hate to sound like "that guy" who wants to make a frame OP because of one skill, but as it stands, teamwork isn't a requirement so people just kill things because they can regardless of what a teammate is doing or what their skill does for the team. But I always used absorb as a panic button to get my shields back if I was literally about to die, so that really took one of the two utilities of Absorb out of the equation completely.
