izzatuw
It's already heavily hinted that it's somehow connected after that sentence, you can't always expect them to hands you the papers to tell you exactly what it is to be sure when it's already there. But think what you wish. Like I said, DE is vague about this, one devstream they said it's canon, another they said not all of it is. Although Warframe was already stated to be the spiritua successor of Dark Sector, it's not a sequel that takes play years after Dark Sector's events like Jurassic Park to Jurassic World. Than explain how Nemesis Skin exists in Warframe's universe although it looks a lot different from the original Nemesis and why do these infested look a lot different from the original "infested"? Soju.
Warframe DOES take years after Dark Sector's events. Warframe is set in the Warframe Era, Dark Sector is in the Dark Sector Era, in the middle of them is Orokin Era. There are lots of relations to this. I'll make one example, you know Mire? The infested sword? Yeah. It mentioned that it was a relict of the Great Plague. From Dark Sector wiki: http://darksector.wikia.com/wiki/Technocyte_Virus - Technocyte Virus "It is said that sometime after Hayden's adventure in Lasria, the virus killed most of Earth's life, in an incident known as "The Great Plague"." Connects it. Nemesis skin is simply a cosmetic item for the players, and it also serves as a reference to the old game itself, plus Nemesis skin wasn't even a default/original skin that comes with the Warframe, this means that they're just there for fan service and money, not affect the lore or anything. It's called a 'skin' for a reason after all. The original Nemesis was stronger and has a somewhat different power. And like I said, DE is vague about this. They changed whatever they like and messed things up and now their excuse is only somewhat of Dark Sector is canon and not all of them. Toppien
The infested were there before the Orokin, or Dark Sector Era. Source = Dark Sector infested have nothing to do with the infected from dark sector...the infested were an experiment from the orokin that went wrong. the difference? quite obvious. infested=mostly mele/toxin users, they melt with the victim's armor, they have tiny glowing spots in their body infected=they grow their own metallic armor, they use energy attacks and tenno-like powers, advanced forms have glowing stipes Edited June 14, 2015 by Toppien

Avenwing
And here's another evidence to back it up INFESTATION describes both a disease and its victims - a metamorphic affliction without cure. Living organisms are consumed and merged into rabid amalgamations. Individuals are violent and animalistic yet the larger whole exhibits signs of coordination, with multiple swarms converging on ships and colonies. Its origins are uncertain but there is historical evidence of a similar outbreak before The Collapse. –In-game Lore Description Notice the last sentence, "Its origins are uncertain but there is historical evidence of a similar outbreak before The Collapse." And guess what, there's an outbreak in Dark Sector. The Collapse happened during the Orokin Era, before the Orokin Era is Dark Sector Era. Legally, nothing from Dark Sector can be canon. Festinger
It's simple. We'll disconnect the infested from session through host migrations!
HalcyonH66
They may be a large threat but thus far we've been able to control them EASILY. While in the game lore they represent an unstoppable plague when I reconcile that with what I see ingame I'm not worried. They're easily the least threatening enemy the tenno face. Pendragon1951
The reality, game wise, is that the Infested are not much of a threat when a single Warframe can kill it's biggest Infested, The Juggernaught and Lephantis and obliterate 20 waves by a small team of four, so no they are not a threat like the flood. Chaosyn
The Infested ARE a HUGE threat...One you'll never see though (not in the way it should be seen). Were gameplay to show how much of a threat they are you'd NEVER be ABLE to complete a mission with them in it... DE has to make the game playable...so you'll never see them on the scale that they TRULY inhabit.... You never see them infecting others in missions....You never see them in the numbers that are supposed to exist....

Soju. Explains why the Mire sword in Warframe talked about the Great Plague, when the Great Plague happened on Earth during the Dark Sector Era and that it was the same virus? As told here http://darksector.wikia.com/wiki/Technocyte_Virus . Hm? Now I'm not denying the differences between the ones in Dark Sector and this one, like I also said before, it could have been DE changed whatever the hell they like and messed it up, or the Orokins messed with the T-virus itself further more which results in a more organic looking type of Infected.
