The Latest Information On Greedy Pull

In our most recent Devstream we took the time to vocalize the current issues with Mag’s Greedy Pull, an Ability Mod intended to optimize Mag’s Pull with a bit of extra utility.  While we still believe there’s nothing wrong with Mag players giving their feet some rest Greedy Pull has created too many problems to be left alone.

Our current plans to adjust Greedy Pull are undergoing review and will include the following changes:

  • Greedy Pull will only pull items for the Ability caster (like how Carrier's Vacuum only applies to the owner).
  • Greedy Pull will still pull items as it does now - no Line of Sight checks will be included.

As we monitor Greedy Pull’s future impact on gameplay we will continue to make adjustments as needed, including a review of the Mod’s LoS capabilities.  The time spent reviewing Greedy Pull has also given us a lot of insight into some errors in Ability / Item behavior interaction, and players can expect a future Hotfix to fix instances of the Carrier picking up other player’s items.

The time spent reviewing Greedy Pull and its effects on Warframe’s meta has been invaluable in helping us deliver an improved quality of life throughout Warframe’s future Updates. We recognize this is just one piece of a much larger gameplay efficiency puzzle that is yet to be fully solved. Thanks for your patience, Tenno!

Better way would be to nerf Range of Pull in mag.
Making it not a cone range <
But just a line = like frost Ice Wave right now. 20 meters length range and 3 meters width

Now you have your greedy pull just for yourself, it wont be good to use it that much now.

This would definitely solve the issue, but I'm not sure people will take too kindly to it.

Though, to be fair, it IS called Greedy Pull.

Hardly. People will just replace Mag with Trinity. Frost will Snowglobe the Mesa, Mesa will switch off Peacemaker, Trinity will EV an enemy and kill it to instantly kick Mesa's energy back to full, Mesa will switch Peacemaker back on and continue the slaughter. All of this can be done in about 5 seconds or less.

Good idea! Bye Draco, and good riddance!

This will not solve the Draco issue at all.

This is good, but understand that there are so many ways to abuse energy that Draco farms (or similar ones) will continue. If that's the goal, you have a long way to go. If it was to prevent one player from forcing the rest to be motionless, however, this is a good thing.

Except that its not abuse as the game was being played as intentional. Draco farms and the like arent the problem and they never have been, its the grind itself that shoehorns people into these farms

...you really believe that Mesa+Gmag was the only viable tactic on Draco?

Haha, say hello to reworked Frosts, Saryns and other nukers we used long before, also, Trinity with EV is coming back...

Mag is going back to the dumpster once again, I could understand not grabbing energy for entire team (and that would pretty much be the solution) as health and ammo are viable for other tactics than Draco camping, but well, imho, you went overboard with the nerf.

Farewell Mag, you are going to be completely useless once again.

As a sort-of-compensation, can Shield Transference be buffed to extend to allies as well as the casting Mag?

To anyone complaining that Mag is useless, a good Mag can easily outdamage a Mesa. She is extremely powerful, and definitely not useless, if the player in question is actually capable of using her.

Exactly.

Though it appears the devs don't see the source of Draco, Viver itc.

Instead they're choosing the easiest way - simply nerfing Mag.

I wonder how many more frames will be nerfed before they notice how short-sighted this solution is.

Also this^. Good to know that this hiccup served as a learning experience for QoL changes.

I think this is a bit too much nerf - from being too useful, Greedy Pull would be made completely and utterly useless outside of solo play. Also, as others have mentioned, it doesn't actually fix the problem - people can simply lay down energy restores or EV and take breaks in between Peacemaker spam rounds.

If the staff are still reading this thread - I agree with others who have stated that simply making energy orbs work only for the Mag, and leaving everything else intact, would have been an infinitely better change, allowing Mag to continue gathering loot, health, and ammo for the team.

Alternatively (or additionally), if at all possible, loot drops in general (all mods, credits, resources) should be shared with the entire squad on pickup instead of being iterated the way they currently are - with that change, this alteration to Greedy Pull would work perfectly well for loot collection, prevent loot trolling, and prevent the infinite energy train.

*snip*

Mag still isn't useless. Greedy Pull will be useless for anything non-solo, but Mag is useful when people actually bother to look past "Gmag".

This is great, but any chance Mag could have a look at all her powers? Not saying she's bad because she's not, but she could use a couple other improvements!

Also, hopefully that will save Mesa some complaints from peacemaker.

Oh they most definitely know the real issue. They just don't know how to best implement it yet while still keeping a high player base that keeps playing
