How is this computer worse than my previous potato?! It's like trudging through mud. I feel so sorry for my cursor.

I don't know anything about troubleshooting or putting together a PC. Every thing is a communal property at my home.

I would love to get my own someday - so jealous. Next year will be my year. The year I flew from the nest. I'm already dreaming about being independent.

Oh you poor soul. Trick is to give up hope for the first 1-2 years.

You mean no buying shoes? Is it that tight and bad the first few years? Pay off student loans, finally pay rent, food, car and insurance.

I would suggest starting your budget NOW tbh  Start researching the cost of everything, down to your toothpaste and replacement shoe laces.  Keep track of how long things last and be open to places like the Dollar Store and the Clearance aisle.

The Dollar Store set me up with a dish set for two (two plates, bowls, glasses, coffee mugs) as well as silverware, two skillets and a couple decent knives.  Those lasted me a year. XD Same with the broom, dustpan, laundry basket and other minor knickknacks.

You just have to be careful with the stuff you get and it'll last you until you can afford something better.

Hek, you can even get caned gods and pasta there.  I wouldn't recommend their "fresh" food section though.  Had a bad experience with that in Portland, so I stick to non-parishables.

Mmmm. You selling pieces of yourself?

I go yard sales no matter how loaded my family is. I need to socialize badly(practice).

I'd only sell parts of myself to certain people. ;)

And you can socialize at yard sales?  I didn't know this!  Usually I show up, grab what I want and vacate.  Oh, and pay before vacating.

Huh, reading this was enlightening, even tho I am still far from going off by myself

Hey, my sister started collecting house stuff when she was 14 and had a storage unit full of everything she'd need - furniture, kitchen supplies, bedroom stuff, etc. - by the time she could afford her own place at 19.

(walking back home from school as a storm rages... I don't recommend it)

Socializing in yard sales is very common thing

I have some stuff, but I'm not in a rush to leave. I wanna get my studies done first, get a job, and help my family while I finish studying and all that.

That's a great idea, Noa. I'll start doing that. @ Overlord I like dancing but not dirty dancing. I'll keep my morals and self respect.

Throw an apartment warming party and let all the cousins get all house items? But its not really being independent. Here's a gist of the plan, graduate, pass the board and the school guarantees a nursing job. Get a modest apartment, bring my dog, give up gaming, forever pay off student loan. Go back to the planning board.

It took my sister almost 5 years to get everything and decide she was ready lol She just shopped sales only.

In my family, we have what's called a "pounding" and before you go to the naughty place, it just means that everyone brings a pound of something - coffee, flour, rice, sugar, beans, kitchen towels (that ones is scary) soap, potatoes, etc.

I got 2 lb (a box) of dishes from my grandparents and a pound of .22 from my father. XD

Just shop sales? GG izi

I always got my grandma behind me telling me what's the good stuff to buy :p

Why would kitchen towels be scary?

2 lb of dishes? Are they insinuating you don't clean stuff often?

I promise to give you my change if I ever see you then.

Nursing? I got a friend who just got her schooling done. She walked in for an interview and was hired on the spot to work in 3 hours from that moment to start her 55 hour work week.

You sure? It's all about the confidence. Also ask fat guys for dating advice. Since they know how to get some.

-Shrugs- Doesn't really bother me, I feel old fashioned in that I'd prefer to find a significant other for that but that could very well change when I do get my own place.
