Answer To Rng - Reward Wagers

We all hate RNG.  Endless hours or days farming the same level just to collect the ONE last piece of a weapon we've been yearning for, only to get the piece we already got over and over again. RNG is necessary to distribute the numerous resources we seek at an appropriate rate and keep players from collecting everything in the game too fast, subsequently ending a lot of the fun of the game prematurely, but we still hate it.

 

In order to alleviate some of the frustration involved with farming for rare or difficult to acquire resources/parts, I propose a form of Wager System to be implemented in the mission select screen.  The purpose of which is to, not guarantee, but to enhance the chances of acquiring the desired reward.

 

I have two possible variants in mind.

 

The first involves putting some of your own resources on the table, betting you will complete the mission you are selecting, you then choose your reward.  The more valuable the collective resources you bet, the better your chance for receiving your desired reward.  And the more valuable the reward, the more you need to bet in order to increase your chances.

 

The second will give players a challenge to complete during the mission.  Challenges along the line of completing a mission within a certain time, or killing a limited number of enemies (as opposed to wiping the map), or using melee only.  The more difficult the challenge, the better your chances.  The more valuable the reward, the harder the challenge you need to complete.

 

This will ultimately make equipment feel more obtainable, and give players more agency over what they are playing for.  As opposed to letting RNGeezus play with our hearts.

this second idea does sound good, Because true ninja's dont just rush in a kill - some prefer stealth and having a bit of variety is always nice :D

Second idea sounds fun.

First idea... uh... why not just trade those items for plat?

Because plat is a resource that isn't available to all players -through gameplay-. It is obtainable through real money or bartering in the market, but the ONLY alternative to that is endless endless farming. This way people are still PLAYING, but it doesn't feel as futile.
