Just A Question About Account Migration If I Can...

Whenever someone posts a thread about moving their account to console, they're greeted with the usual "Oh, the builds aren't the same." and all that. Well why not just have the new warframes that they already have locked until the update for consoles comes? Simple right? Is there a flaw to this, because if there is, please tell me.

It doesn't have to do with build mismatch; it requires special permission from Sony/Microsoft to allow transfers, and they have yet to give the go ahead for more migrations.

Without the go ahead from Sony or Microsoft, migrations can't happen.

It's a lot more than that.

The only option would be to delay the PC patches entirely too synchronize all content, fixes, etc. "Locking" content doesn't work because content on the PC side literally does not exist in the console data; consoles would not know how to process, render or display weapons or frames that have not been implemented in the console build, and delaying content on PC for the sake of consoles is something DE has promised they would not do.

The first - and only - time that migration was offered, the builds weren't in sync. In fact, it was one of the largest out-of-sync periods there was, because PC had gotten U14, with Mirage and the Liset overhaul, while console was still on 13.7 or something. It was quite impressive - PC players who purchased Mirage and subsequently migrated would no longer have her, but she was automatically added to their arsenal once U14 dropped for console players.

 

I'm sure there's more to it, but they don't seem to be required to be perfectly in line with each other.

Build sync isn't an issue for migration, as you said.

Sheldon had designed a script to remove/delay items that has yet to be released on consoles that were contained in PC accounts.

In the end it's really just a permissions issue involving Sony/Microsoft.
