Jumba255
I have been playing for a while now (Rank 6 mastery) and can't seem to find a good melee warframe (warframe that has abilities that support melee combat) besides LOKI and ASH because of their invisibility and i like to see myself when i am swinging. Any suggestions?
Kiteless
Ember. Definitely Ember. Just pop Overheat and go to town. It functions as an offensive steroid and a kickass defensive buff.
Airetam
Saryn with Contagion? Edit: Pair that with molt to divert attention, and start hacking away. Edited May 27, 2013 by Airetam
BlerkLerps
You're stuck with ASH, since even without Smokescreen he comes off pretty tanky and has quite a bit of Shields and Health to boot.
SocknBoppers
I've been meaning to try a Saryn with that new Melee Channel mod so I get two damage buffs upon use of contagion. Too bad I reset and haven't went for her again yet.
Darxio
Many suits have skills that pair up with melee nicely. One not mentioned is Rhino. Iron Skin lets you get into the fray without worrying too much about your health or shields(Even in its current form) and ignore stagger, and Rhino Stomp launches them into the air for you to slice up at your leisure, since nobody around you should be hitting back with a good rhino stomp. BETAOPTICS
I would not go calling specific Frames being melee oriented classes since the borderline is what you choose to equip and how you will evolve them. There are of course some that might feel a bit more appealing due to a abilities they have but let's think about this topic. Rhino or Trinity for example, are great tanks, (Trinity due to link) able to sustain a lot of damage, that is the zone they excel at. It makes a lot of sense to put on a melee weapon and go toe to toe fighting as them. Then there are a bit more stealthy champions that excel in and out type of melee gameplay.Excalibur is balanced one, Loki and Ash use blending skill as an advantage, first one being more agile and second one being more tanky. Ember is not designed the be melee oriented character, she is more caster but due to her kit's nature, she is free to do so too. Same goes to Saryn, she is a bit more tanky with a ability to buff melee and use utility skills such as Molt to buy some time. Banshee is mix and match close and ranged combat specialist. While here general gameplay style is more about supporting and being far away from enemies, her 1 and 4 both are devastating abilities in up-close fights. Mag and Nyx focus on more manipulation abilities to deliver their devastating benefits but can be utilized right for a melee style of play. Mag can pull enemies to her feet and Nyx can take someones mind to fight for you and then you are free to dispatch the enemy your mind controlled ally is shooting at as well as killing it later on.Frost, Vauban and Volt are not as good in melee style of play than others. While Frost has the ability to freeze his targets and can then do a lot of damage to the target, his abilities do not support melee style of play all that well, oddly enough. Vauban having a lot of CC abilities but none of them are directly effective for a melee oriented character, on the top of that Vauban sacrifices durability and sustain to keep the caster side of him strong. Volt on the other hand has a few minor things that might make him OK choice but I'd rather stay away from him. The shock ability is good for stunning one or few enemies and the speed ability is good for getting away from the fight or hit and run tactics but nothing more of him that is especially good in melee combat. What matters the most is what melee weapons and mods suit your playstyle the most as they are the ones that make a difference between a good or poor melee oriented Frame.
