MidgetsTossingPractice
To be honest, your best bet is to download some of the examples and the stuff they give you on the page, and just start pushing buttons. Eventually it will start moving with what they put on the links. I've got no clue what I'm doing, but I've gotten somewhat far. Of course, I've put things where they don't belong and started reading as I went with it to piece some puzzles together. Eventually I'll start doing things right, but for now, have a mess of failed attempts. Perhaps it might work out for you as well, a bit of fun lol. There are some spaces as well for editing the size by typing in how large or small you want it in regards to the original scaling, on the bottom of the screen there should be some options, which will allow you to rotate your objects, play around with that to see how it works out, check out which lines do what, there's another option for moving left, right, up and down, you just select the object and drag the arrows corresponding in that direction. That's for previews and uploading.

There are options for both free and paid programs, the choice is yours. There should be tutorials on how to use them on youtube. MidgetsTossingPractice
https://warframe.com/steamworkshop/help/ Click through the tabs on here, however the tools for texturing are under the texturing guide tab, but here are the links anyways Free painting tool - http://www.gimp.org/ Free 3D painting tool - http://www.blender.org/ These are just the free ones, if you're looking into more tools, there are some others listed in the workshop help link I posted earlier, under the texturing guide tab. In some of the other tabs, there should be more links to programs you might need or want, I'm still exploring it myself so I can't tell you for sure yet. ra9una
What would really help me, is a video, detailing what you actually do. Not how do do anything, no painting or texturing, nothing in the technical, just the step by step of what you load where, an overview of what DE gives you to work with, what you edit in an image editor, etc. Something really basic, because the issue for real beginners, is that we don't even know what to look up tutorials for. loo10ant
I made a tutorial but it's very basic and my voice is kind of annoying but it should highlight the basics so you can bypass the annoying few hours of 'pressing random buttons' https://youtu.be/EAoQNd-PdI4 Edited October 24, 2015 by loo10ant

Basically answered all my questions (I know, you'd think I could have figured it out myself). Awesome! I'll try but will take time. Seriously, any tutorials will be immensely appreciated.
