Shooting through teammates

Please let us do so. This game has a strong emphsis on melee combat, as well as gunplay. The problem is that the two don't mix well and you end up with your teammates blocking most of your shots. This becomes especially problematic in matches where there is any lag, as you can't be sure where anyone is.

I would also like to mention that Loki's decoy ability blocks friendlyfire as well. This is most annoying when fighting Grineer, as you must try to shoot them in the face, only to find the hologram blocking your fire.

Tbh, if a team mate is engage in melee with a target, you should let them finish. Find a new target, take out the things that are shooting the melee character from a distance. If no more, then let them have their melee fun!

With a boss/heavy, simply find a new line of site.

I like the fact they block shots, it means you have to think a little more instead of mindlessly spamming. Plus people shooiing my melee targets from safe sdstance annoy the hell out of me.

Indeed, it is a bit annoying to waste that many bullets on your team-mate's backs, especially if there is a player getting close and personal with his skana...

But so far this hasn't especially angered me, and I dare say it encourages me to be more precise with my shots, and in case my shots are blocked more often, I will try to attack from another angle or focus on another enemy.

Otherwise you could just bunch up into a big unorganized mess and spam through everyone... but I wouldn't mind if this would be changed either.

On a related note:

If it REALLY drives you nuts.... According to my knowledge (might be wrong), using Puncture Mods will allow you to shoot through teammates.

(Will try to screenshot it next time I do it.)

Again, though, Sher... why are you shooting a target that's engaged in melee? There are usually plenty of targets to go around!

Boss types and heavy enemies are usually large enough to hit even if someone is smacking them with their sword.

The only time I've found it annoying is when a teammates run right in front of me while I'm scoped with my snipetron and sat their ironsigting themselves. Takes a second to move around them though.

Depends on the target entirely. How about ancients or bosses?

Plus, engaging melee doesn't always mean instant demise for an enemy. Your teammate may just be out of ammo or in a desperate situation.

But generally, switching targets does apply, as I mentioned in my post as well. :)

You're lucky there's not friendly fire :p I would almost prefer that. It would cut down on the spray and pray imo...

I would love for there to be Friendly fire in Co-op games like these tbh, It actually promotes "teamwork" and "communication" and makes it harder when it's purely PvE that said, it's more likely there will still be spray and pray but more dying will be involved, happens a lot in games liike L4D or RE: Operation Raccoon City, sometimes I'm, crouching under their line of fire and they still manage to unload a sniper round into the back of my head.

Long story short I doubt FF will be implemented if it's "optional" it'd have to be a permanent feature and not, and it'll open opportunity for griefers.

Ancients you can hit in the head still, where you should be aiming. ;)

If the situation is desperate, then it's usually because the player engaged in melee is being hit from a distance at the same time. So why not remove that threat for them?

A single melee engagment with a squishy mob is never usually thst dangerous, and you can hit larger targets who have more health still anyway!

I am aware of that. (Or the shins, according to some people)

However, Shotguns and inaccurate automatic weapons at mid-range should rather go for torso-mass to land in more bullets, with most bullets blocked by a well-placed teammate.

Or he's being swarmed (Infested, Moas).

"Melee Faster" is not honest advice. There is a limit to how fast your current build can melee, and a limit to how quickly you can take down a target. Some targets on higher difficulties will take a few swings, or a charge, and many times I've been about to land my last swing or chargedhit and, POP, a player from a cross the room snipes my target.

But then, I assumed you were intelligent enough to know this so that only left trolling...

It's cool, there's fire rate mods and charge speed mods that you can equip on your weapons. They'll let you swing faster. But since you're stuck trying to make snide comments without learning the game, I'm glad I could educate you :)

Back to the original topic at hand, I agree that it would be nice to have an option to fire through teammates independent of a lucky mod drop. I can't count the number of times that I've been shooting at enemies coming across a bridge or other area that funnels them into a nice long line only to have another player gleefully charge by and prevent me from landing any further hits while they ineffectually slash away.

I wonder who the devs are going to cater to:

People who are tired of melee characters blocking their shots

People who are glad that when they melee their targets are protected from over eager gunners

It's one or the other.

It's still pretty annoying when you shoot an enemy and that exact moment someone dashes forward and melees them to death, blocking your shots.

Sure, I understand, but currently players can get an angle on a enemy engaged in melee with a player character and "steal" the kill just as often. Imgaine what it would be like if you could shoot through any melee player and get to the target behind them.

Right now it's annoying for both at times, make this change and it'll be even less effective to melee than it currently is.

Actually I preffer not being able to shoot through teamates because if we could, that would make the game too easy.

I find this mostly annoying in boss fights: There's alsways some Capt. Awesome who has to go in with his rank 5 skana and melee the boss, so the rest of us can't do any damage to it and prolong the fight for ages.
